No TK no! We extra don't need Rousey in #AEW
Posts by Brian (BARGE games) 🔜 GDC
Super insightful for a part of the industry I just don't know.
To me that is the real draw of GDC. If you are willing to fake it and run your social battery to empty, you can really get great information and connections.
At the cost of the stress of pretending you aren't a complete introvert...
The biggest highlight for me was getting to talk with Don Daglow for 20 minutes and just pick his brain for a while, super gracious guy with his time, figures that he's a former classroom teacher.
The other was getting to sit down with Pasha Sol from EA to help me better prepare my students.
The talks were ok, I feel like there wasn't a "gotta be there design talk" like the last few years. Rez's "Improv games for game devs" was great though.
Maybe when the vault is up I'll find a gem I missed.
Seeing so many teachers come together was pretty amazing for an old idiot like me who used to be the only high school teacher at GDC. It makes a lot of my efforts feel validated. Especially the people that got to come to GDC because my roundtables were on the program.
Exhausted and happy teacher in front of the sign for his GDC talk.
Since everyone else is musing about their #GDC I will chime in.
I'm what I would call industry adjacent, I am a Game Dev Teacher, so my goals are pretty different.
I got to lead a pair of Roundtables for k12/youth teachers which was a major goal for me.
One of the biggest pieces of feedback I got on my roundtables was "this is great, it is pretty much just practioners and no students."
The happiest and most exhausted teacher in the world, in front of the sign for his GDC talk.
Another #GDC. It's been a challenging year, but few things charge me up more than seeing so many teachers trying to get better at helping kids make games.
I'm so happy hearing from teachers that got to come to GDC because of these roundtables.
The improv games for game designers talk by Rez was great.
I think in practice it's largely what it was before.
More "stages" definitely and a bunch of food pop ups in YB, but besides that it basically is the same as far as I can tell.
The sessions were more staggered (no dedicated summit days) which has pluses and minuses.
I really wish they included vault access in the academic pass.
Teachers and students are asking those who could benefit most from the content.
Yes, they put a lot of great stuff on YouTube but there are a lot of great and useful talks that aren't.
That's horribly disappointing.

Excited to finally get is all in one place that is our place for a bit instead of trying to elbow out space in the common areas.
Also looking for any of my #ttrpg / #rpg folks to talk shop and maybe check out some prototypes.
Session description for the first k12 education focused session at GDC.
#GDC is here!
It still doesn't feel real that after years of trying, I finally got a k12 and Youth Ed focused session on the program.
For a long time I have tried to time up my colleagues, furiously badge-checking, hours in the networking app.

A glass of whiskey, a prepared Christmas morning and hangman Adam Page not doing a damn thing wrong.
Kids in bed. Christmas morning ready. Whiskey poured. Finished up #AEW dynamite. Now just sitting back watching hangman not do a damn thing wrong.
Happy Holidays sickos!
The vast majority of wrestling reddit is pretty awful.
There is a whole bunch of stuff that happens in yb park and around the city throughout the week.
Definitely going to this one.
