I just continue to be amazed by the fact we ended up in a situation where no one reads the Post, Times, etc. anymore, yet they still retain the power to shape the public narratives that non-political obsessives get exposed to, so they retain the power to fuck over figures who don't make good copy

Unfortunately, this was also a major contributor to neither he nor Kamala being president right now, and I hope the alumni from their administration remember that lesson when 2029 rolls around.

Unfortunately, this fact explains at least 50% of anti-transit sentiment in blue metros

This is conveniently solved by the fact that people on the left by and large do not believe moral hazards exist. Discovering this fact while working on the NFIP is the closest I've ever come to having a dark night of the soul. I was basically Ivanova in the Hour of the Wolf for weeks.

At a certain point, one just has to accept that the planning factors in use did not have "the food will start to look bad and get posted to social media" as a critical threshold to avoid. A lot of deliberately planned sub cruises to Norway ended up with three bean salad on the menu for weeks on end.

That or even more elaborate lawsuits, like what New York City did to stave off new maps for a decade

I wish I shared your optimism. In my years working in the NFIP, I saw just as much - if not more - pushback from blue jurisdictions as red ones

I would just add that if the professional services firms in question have those people on their own books as W-2s, rather than just being a 1099 clearinghouse, they will have their own sets of benefits and incentives that they will wrap in as overhead within their fully-burdened labor rates.

The Internet was a much more gradual rollout that gave people time to adapt, though - the suddenness of LLMs appearing on the public scene is what's breaking most people's brains

ASTM International does not currently permit use of 100% SAF - only up to 50% blended with regular petroleum-derived Jet A. Will be interesting to see if they have gotten some sort of special, accelerated approval.

It's not meaningfully more or less liberal a student body than any other USNWR Top 25 school, with the possible exception of Notre Dame being noticeably more conservative than the rest.

Yes, but that data does not show the huge increase in "Contingent and alternative work arrangements" for the critical demographic "Users of BlueSky"

The amount of effort expended by the FSO on public opinion monitoring speaks to this as well

Aside from 'fundamentals' (number one concern of any autocratic regime is domestic instability, he's convinced CIA and MI6 are working double time to foment color revolution, experiences of AFG and Chechnya 1), incrementalism of previous efforts in the area suggested Boiling the Public Opinion Frog
