On the most recent draft podcast, @jjcoop36.bsky.social, @jacobrudner.bsky.social and I talked about a few players we really like at different tiers in the draft.
I promise I found someone other than Derek Curiel to talk about.

Reds OF Rece Hinds is not nearly as famous as Yankees OF Spencer Jones. But the just recalled Hinds a very similar player who has made the major improvements Jones still has to make.

Two weeks into the season, eleven different starting pitchers have touched 100 mph this season.
That's as many starting pitchers touching 100 as did so in the entire 2019 season.
It's more than did so in the entirety of 2017, 2016, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009 or 2008.
We will be going live with the Hot Sheet show on YouTube in five minutes. We love answering your questions. Come join us, and who do you think will have the best 2026 season among our Top 3 prospects (all of whom are in the majors).

Not only is Brewers SS Jesús Made the youngest player in Double-A, he would be the youngest player in High-A if he was there. He would be the fourth youngest player in the Low-A FSL and Cal League. He's the 17th youngest player in the full-season minors.

Cole Carlon had 32 whiffs last week 😯
No pitcher had more.

First Prospect Hot Sheet of the season.
Dodger OF James Tibbs III's massive week made him the very clear No. 1.

Pirates fans have deserved for years a day like this. A great fan base who have just been waiting for reasons to believe.
I am glad they get a day like today.
We update our Baseball America Top 100 Prospect rankings every month in-season so our readers know about how prospects are moving quicker than anyone else.
The April update reflects spring training reporting. Modest moves to ensure we don't over-react.

The Guardians drafted Justin Campbell in 2022.
When he takes the mound for High-A Lake County this spring, he'll be making his professional DEBUT.
He missed 3.5 years with injuries.
He's the most intriguing assignment in their system:

HE’S HERE AND HE’S PERFECT.
Chatted with Trevor Vance.
He said last night Jac Caglianone asked one of the grounds crew members how many were on the crew (~20). This morning, Cags brought in three-dozen donuts + coffee for them as a thank you for their hard work.
First class.
Good piece. I would (politely) disagree with one point. I do think the "reveal" of the challenge works for fans making that not just an ad delivery device. Seeing it without an ad in the minors, it generated real suspense/reaction in a way that having the ump just announce the result does not do.
The No. 1 prospect in baseball is headed to the majors at 19.
Konnor Griffin’s .336 MiLB average ranks 4th since 2010 (min. 500 AB), alongside Vladimir Guerrero, Brandon Belt and Adam Eaton.
First teenage position player to debut since Juan Soto.
I wrote about Konnor Griffin's call-up, like every other baseball outlet in the world.
But I do think there's a fascinating stat inside this piece that no one else will have today.
www.baseballamerica.com/stories/konn...
Griffin's defense, speed and power will make him the Pirates best SS option in the present even if he has some adjustment to the majors. And there are lessons he will only learn how to adapt to facing MLB pitching.
Konnor Griffin coming up makes sense for the Pirates. His presence made it unrealistic for the team to try to find a free agent SS in the offseason to fill that glaring hole. Why sign a guy to be pushed aside so quickly?
But that also means the team was without a real MLB SS.
This is as much a part of MiLB Opening Day arrival as anything. Check out Josh Norris' rundown of players who impressed scouts in spring training. Josh talks to a TON of pro scouts to put this together.

Love it to death
Probably for the best
Would rather DH disappear but that won't happen
Fine. Not that big of a deal
Also fine
I like stolen bases
Dumb. Hate it
In conflict of natural order of baseball and couldn't be worse
I liked his cover of Blinded By The Light.
my feelings on these:
-best thing to ever happen to baseball
-neutral/no impact
-probably good but it makes me sad
-provisionally in favor/funny
-very good
-no opinion
-slightly bad but not detrimental, more playoff expansion would be (plus i miss the wild card game)
-horrible, evil, haunted
And I would say the game overall is better for it. The extra-inning rule is still quite contentious, but otherwise time after time, these rules changes faced fan pushback until they were implemented and then largely accepted.
It's an accomplishment:

I would suggest that MLB has made more significant changes to the game in the 2020s than we have seen in any decade since the 60s. (OK, maybe 70s if you include free agency).
Pitch clock.
Shift Ban.
NL DH.
ABS Challenge.
Limiting pickoffs.
Bigger bases.
Expanded Wild Card
Manfred Man.
The smooth rollout of the ABS Challenge system in the majors is yet another example of significant changes coming to MLB without any significant hiccups.
It's something we've seen over and over in the 2020s. MiLB experiments = successful MLB changes.

Here's our annual look at the youngest and oldest MLB players on Opening Day, plus this year I added some hopefully useful info on average age of each team from the youngest (Cardinals) to oldest (Braves).
www.baseballamerica.com/stories/youn...
Sorry I am not your expert on that one...Cardinals beat writers would be in much better position to have an inkling.
