One time many years ago I was flying with a head cold and the airplane pressure change was so bad I felt like my head was going to burst especially from my ears and I was in such visible pain that the flight attendant gave me some ear drops that they apparently have on hand to release the pressure.

To be fair, there is at least one DSA Caucus this could describe.

Muslims care more about crimes against Muslims. Arabs care more about crimes against Arabs. Western Christians care more about crimes against victims which can be read or related to as Western-ish Christian. Thus a crime against a relatable symbol hits more than crimes against actual Arab Xians.

A brief history of swift boating, from John Kerry to Tim Walz Republicans' attacks on Tim Walz's military record mirror a 2004 smear campaign against John Kerry in some key ways. Here's how swift boating played out then — and what's different this time around.

Dems think they can pick the perfect candidate or the perfect message that can’t, just physically can’t be twisted or misconstrued. Yet every time, the RW uses its agency to make even milquetoast seem extreme & scary. There is nothing that cannot be Swift-Boated! www.npr.org/2024/08/09/n...

David Brock: Blinded By The Right: The Conscience Of An Ex-Conservative David Brock: Blinded By The Right: The Conscience Of An Ex-Conservative

Centrists don’t want to believe in RW agency, partly b/c they mirror-image their own lack of vision, but also b/c they want an excuse to reject progress w/o doing it openly (“I agree but think of the reaction!”). Meanwhile it’s been decades of calculated RW scheming www.avclub.com/david-brock-...

How a Conservative Activist Invented the Conflict Over Critical Race Theory To Christopher Rufo, a term for a school of legal scholarship looked like the perfect weapon.

The Critical Race Theory panic is a perfect example of something that was manufactured but which centrist liberals pretend was an organic reaction to leftist overreach. www.newyorker.com/news/annals-...

Tbh it is simple: the right is successful because a small group of people have spent a LOT of money employing a lot of people in think tanks, research, advocacy, media, law, & elsewhere to develop and press successful reactionary strategies. Organized money *is* the just-so story that is true.

While we’re at it restoring freedom to the Joint Force, bring back 1-year enlistments which allow you to go home in the middle of a campaign.

Is establishing freedom in the Joint Force a goal? Like true freedom where following orders is optional?

My neighbor told me coyotes keep eating his outdoor cats so l asked how many cats he has and he said he just goes to the shelter and gets a new cat afterwards so I said it sounds like he's just feeding shelter cats to coyotes and then his daughter started crying.

Maybe it’s changed with age, but when I was younger and had a job that required me to stand all shift, I found that it was like a muscle you could train into. The pain diminished with practice. That and standing on a pad rather than hard surfaces, which is why I freak out when I see workers without.
