One time many years ago I was flying with a head cold and the airplane pressure change was so bad I felt like my head was going to burst especially from my ears and I was in such visible pain that the flight attendant gave me some ear drops that they apparently have on hand to release the pressure.

Maybe it’s changed with age, but when I was younger and had a job that required me to stand all shift, I found that it was like a muscle you could train into. The pain diminished with practice. That and standing on a pad rather than hard surfaces, which is why I freak out when I see workers without.
