If it's that or nothing... I guess it's that.

Well, they do outnumber us 10 to 1 IRL, so I mean, yeah.
It was actually $100. Whoops. Specsavers and all that...
You make a compelling case. $50 for the kids and the climate.
So why does the speedometer go all the way up to 280 km/h? We are giving people missiles to be operated on public streets with a pinky promise to not go too fast. Why not just remove that capability?
Someone will always say "It's just a tool! When used appropriately its revolutionary!"
Yes, and so is morphine, when used appropriately by professionals. But we don't stick morphine dispensers in every home and carry one in our pockets, do we?
Yet another massive infrastructure project being proposed in the most far-flung reaches of remote WA. No matter what the project it's going to suffer the same consequences as a remote roadhouse staffed by a backpacker.
But the risk is letting motorists drive poorly because the onus is off them to, you know, not run people down.
Of course I ride defensively - you have to. But that's my own sense of self-preservation. I'm relying on a lack of homicidal negligence on the driver's part.
So speed limiting vehicles would probably be a wise move then?
I think both Inland Rail and Snowy 2.0 are worthwhile projects, and must be completed. The near-zero emissions that can flow from both are worth the effort.
But as to whether the project managers running the shows are up to the task, yeah, could do better.
Ooof, I hear ya. I can't unsee my desk hunch, grey hair and growing bald patch... There's nothing good to see here.
I'll take one please!
I reckon any bloke who can play guitar, sing or dance is streets ahead.
(I can do none of these things)
I'm okay with this (as I glance at my $200 ticket). I speed, I pay, I try not to do it again.
But I'm also okay with speed limiting cars and bikes, especially in sububan streets.
Yeah, we could. But solar PV and batteries would be half the price and get built much, much faster. Appreciate we might be able to build more of the components in Australia for a thermal plant, and there's supply chain security there, but we'd still have transmission bottlenecks.
The west is complicit and they know it. Vote these ghouls out at the first opportunity, and force them out if that doesn't succeed.
That's gorgeous!

Australia:
And profound ignorance of how roads are *actually* funded. These guys know damn well the average punter will support this because the average punter *doesn't* drive an EV.
If they succeed with an EV-only road user charge, they will have to go full speed to increase uptake, otherwise it's going to be utterly counterproductive.
Check out this disingenuous campaign. It's 'Keep Mining Strong' all over again. Campaigning for the support of fossil drivers to impose a flat charge on EV drivers and riders. It would make hybrids the least taxed cars on the road!
GRRRR!

Yes, it's a great thing.
It might be greenwashing, but it's also generating megawatts of renewable energy that wouldn't have otherwise been generated. I'd rather see these on top of an apartment block, but since they're going to be parking here anyway they might as well make the most of it.
Profits mainly, but the NVES will eventually steer them towards better vehicles.
I had a chat with Georgia Stynes on ABC Radio 666 Canberra about e-scooters, and why their success depends on a whole bunch of other liveable city policies. Also, sorry Canberra, your car-brain is worth than Perth's. Starts at 1:33:20
