I’m very nearly to where I was Over There in terms of follower count, & a (potential) benefit is that I could run another TTRPG survey… if I think I can get reach.

I’m going to make a short thread, where a “like” indicates that you are a person who could/would fill out a brief survey. Please share.

Alright, guess it is time to maybe get back on this thing. Been mostly off social media for months. Think my main rule will be, no using this from my phone, no apps installed.

APA Policy Statement on Evidence-Based Inclusive Care for Transgender, Gender Diverse, and Nonbinary Individuals This Policy Statement affirms APA’s support for unobstructed access to healthcare and evidence-based clinical care for transgender, gender-diverse, and nonbinary children, adolescents, and adults. Furthermore, this resolution addresses the spread of misleading and unfounded narratives that mischaracterize gender dysphoria and affirming care.

New statement by the American Psychological Association expressing strong support for gender-affirming care, raising concerns about health misinformation, and firmly opposing attempts to restrict access:

Absolutely. I'm working in the Canadian context of Healthcare, and so data sovereignty, security, and geo-location are big deals. Most of what we currently use runs locally. Machine-embedded AI is going to be a much better bet I think (and have a better enviro footprint)

The AI part in particular is interesting. I work in diagnostic medicine, and since well before the current generative AI explosion we were doing high-quality ML/AI stuff as decision support, for histology stuff with reading slides, etc. Now everything getting swamped with crappy bots.

Naming The Faceless: A Dungeon Game Naming The Faceless is a series of posts where I grab an RPG and roll up a character in it, blogging about the process. It’s intended to be a brief, non-exhaustive look at how players approach RPG …

Today on the blog, I build a character in A Dungeon Game!

Is that my own game? Yes! Should you read it anyway? Also yes!

To have a referendum on literally anything would be a real change of pace versus the neglectful paternalism we seem to be perpetually burdened with

It’s disheartening as shit to work in public service these days, even (maybe especially) in healthcare and research. Underfunded as hell and otherwise taking money for reputation laundering of billionaires. Thanks, I hate it

Oh absolutely agree

Daylight Saving Time is increasingly hard to notice when my digital devices are like, "What? Nothing happened. We know what time it is."

And my stove is left blinking and screaming, "IT HAPPENED! TIME SHIFTED UNNATURALLY! THEY'RE ALL LYING! ONLY I KNOW! ONLY I REMEMBER!"

And all of the problems that government often has as an institution are issues of size and complexity. Large companies have the exact same issues

Ugh that's all awful. Sorry you are having to deal with all that

Yup, I work in the public sector in Canada (healthcare). The whole system is usually over budget every year, because it isn't like we can refuse care.

Lexx was delightfully weird. Was it a Canadian production?

Feedback always appreciated in ##TTRPGDesign. Trying for something stripped down and minimalist in an OSR vein, with some PBtA influences. Big thing will be to add in more tables and stuff to highlight the weirdness of the setting and tone: github.com/VoidScience/...

I'm constantly ranting about how money is, at best, a shared fiction. Along a similar vein of money not being really limited at a government level (I prefer the MMT approach anyway) the idea that people have that governments balance a checkbook like home finances drives me into a rage

Well here is the current status, not a lot there, it's been stripped down to be pretty minimalist and only the three "Playbooks" that have been play tested in my current campaign: github.com/VoidScience/...

Anyone who says corporate profiteering isn’t driving inflation is a con artist.

Current version is pretty lean and minimalist, going to try and keep it tight. Night only be like a few pages max, and most of that taken up by tables. Will try and get a version pushed on to GitHub later and link it

I’ve got a sort of OSR-ish but somewhat PBtA inspired “esoteric sci-fi” thing I’ve been working on for awhile. Setting stuff for years, mechanics side lots of revisions and tests the last few months. Sort of post Cyberpunk deal

Time to work on some #TTRPG design and start some vegans reviews today. After some household errands

Just watched Sly on Netflix. The whole time I was watching it I could only think about how much I wanted to chat with my brother about it. Only been a month, #FuckBrainCancer

Also, AI has been a marketing buzzword for years now about every sort of algorithm, machine learning program, or simple statistical regression method. 99% of it is still just marketing bs for “we sorted with a computer”

Absolutely! Really similar trajectory as a bunch of the tech bro sphere
