This is quite an emotional day for those of us who have been advocating for this change for years - while the announcement is lacking in details of when and how this will happen, it's amazing to hear a Minister for Health say this…

A great article!
I agree, Humphrey!
After long deliberation, I’ve deactivated my Twitter account and now diving back into BlueSky. I’m sure there will be FOMO but thankfully a lot less rubbish, right wing crud to navigate.
Lucky that Luna didn’t drown in the attic water tank. Has she figured out how to use the cat flap yet??
Congratulations- a fantastic achievement, Seán.
I’m not sure where to begin with this one … #edchatIE

🔹 🔹🔹How many English teachers are there currently teaching in Post Primary schools? That’s how many voices should be heard. We still haven’t reached a fraction of this number. Have your say today🔹🔹🔹
The recording from our webinar on navigating the new Leaving Certificate Biology specification is now available. Many thanks to all who checked in on the night and for your lovely feedback. youtu.be/oi26d4FsV-I @yvehigginsvallely.bsky.social
Luna is becoming an adult cat! She is not as kittenish looking as she used to be!!
Today is the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Dalkey School Project, Ireland’s first Educate Together school. Proud to be a founder member and subsequently Chair of Educate Together.

Well said, Eoghan Kenny.
New Minister for Education Helen McEntee quoting the Norma Foley playbook however👇🏼🙄
“students should be equipped with the necessary new skills in a world "which has changed completely" in terms of work. It is important that our State exams reflect all of this.”

Future Leaving Certificate Politics & Society (and other subject's ) coursework will be rendered meaningless and pointless if this is the case.
Another great article about AI in education by Breda O’Brien in today’s Irish Times.
An excellent article by Breda O’Brien in support of DEIS+ in today’s Irish Times.

Great exercise! Not surprising that’s she’s slim and fit!
I had to look up the phrase “boilerplate writing”! A very apt use of the phrase, Julian!
But I am sad to see that this Programme for Government has dropped the target of 400 multi-denominational schools by 2030 - a target that was in the two previous Programmes for Government.
It’s the other way round. For fifty years, Educate Together schools have been multi-denominational. (I was a founder member 50 years ago!). CNS schools are also multi-denominational. Both types of schools respect pupils of all religions and none.
A very disappointing section on Education in the draft Programme for Government. It is vague and unspecific. How will we know whether any of the objectives have been achieved. Definitely not “SMART”!!
We’re all human!
