Good things-- I experimented making green curry chicken from a mix, and it came out yummy! With a tablespoon of raisins and peanuts it quite hit the spot.

Color me proud of myself. 😆 Hashtag adulting?

Heather Cox Richardson has been making excellent podcasts in recent weeks. Truly a beacon in the dark.

If y'all are looking for reason and rational thought, she's definitely the one to watch! Her show with Jon Stewart was excellent! ( @hcrichardson.bsky.social )

In the face of disaster and destruction, it's kind of hard to say much that is positive.

I really do appreciate the dog and flowers pix, and the random updates about farms or work or movies or scientific breakthroughs or what have you. It's good to remember the good stuff. 😀

Gah. Passive aggressive BS is something we should be done w/. Then it rears its ugly head at work.

There have been comments that what the world is seeing now is that America is broken, and cannot stop the evil. The same could be said for other smaller scale systems that are meant to protect people.

whoo hoo!! One of my previous grad students whom I left with a colleague when I left my previous institution, defended his PhD today!!

He's been chugging along steadily, becoming a parent, and getting his publications, and it is FANTASTIC that he is all done!

SO many congratulations to him!!

The AI Great Leap Forward In 1958, Mao ordered every village to produce steel. The steel was useless. The crops rotted. Today's top-down AI mandates are producing the same pattern: ba...

This is brilliant.
"Every team reports productivity gains that, if summed across the company, would imply engineers are shipping at 300% efficiency while somehow still missing the same deadlines.

Underneath the metrics, it’s a race to the bottom."

When you walk into a negotiation threatening to bomb a civilization back to the Stone Age and walk out of that negotiation having ceded the Strait of Hormuz and their nuclear enrichment program, do you think it went well?

Me, swigging down a concoction of plant protein and psyllium fiber: I cannot believe my body can actually use this.

My sweetie: well, you always describe stuff that tastes nasty but is good for you as tasting "virtuous". That there is _concentrated virtue_!

😂 Can't argue with it.

I remember cutting being a lot of fun though don't hold me to what dance it was! But I thought for the challenging dances the less experienced were encouraged to take a breather and watch. It is a good way to incorporate rest while rewarding the more experienced, who have hope fully been helping.

oooh, my little cactus survived my re-potting and seems to be thriving!! It's been going for over two years now, which is the longest I've kept any plant alive. 😁

My dad always had a cactus in his office because he didn't have to worry about caring for them; and I am now the same. 😂

I know! It's not like we can double check the reputations of every journal. That's why the point of the article is that as scientists, we can't assume someone else will take care of it. We must gear up and demand retractions where needed, and highlight the conflicts of interest in these industries.

“Everybody's business is nobody's business, and nobody's business is my business” The editor told us that we were the first ones to ask for retraction.

This is an important one to be aware of and keep at hand for when someone says glyphosate (Roundup) is safe... Everyone knew it was fraud, no one asked for a retraction until these folks did.

Massive crowds at Ohio Statehouse for No Kings protest in Columbus.

3 weeks ago 84 33 1 5

I didn't get any pix, but the sleepy suburb of Hilliard Ohio had easily a mile or more of people lining both sides of Main street, with signs and cowbells and vuvuzuelas. 😂

"Healthcare, not Warfare" was surprisingly well represented, but my fave was "The Epstein files are not in Iran".
