I’m seeing lots of Telegram reports/complaints that Russian Railways, Russian Post, and Gazprom are firing employees and/or cutting wages. 🔥
Even in the most optimistic projections the Russian clothing footwear and accessories market is not expected to grow in 2026. In ruble terms in 2025 the market grew by 6% vs 12% in 2024. But terms of the number of items sold in 2025 it actually shrunk by 8-10%.
Interesting thread. Russians are having a hard time affording clothes.
Bingo! The collateral used to get a REPO loan are OFZ bonds.
One can hope that the recent high oil prices create more inflation inside Russia. The government is going to spend all of its windfall to kill Ukrainians.
REPO came in at 4.48 trillion rubles, up slightly since last week. Still a massive, system-shaping amount. Banks turned around and bought 258 billion rubles worth of bonds.
Doubtful SCOTUS will hear this case.
Should the Bank of Russia ever try to raise rates, it will cause banks enormous losses given their 4.5 trillion ruble exposure to REPO. The Bank will therefore continue to lower rates even if inflation increases.

Overdue payments hit 8.2 trillion rubles for the first time ever, pointing to a slow but steady decline in Russian business performance since 2022. Putin will take his Urals windfall and blow it on munitions in Ukraine.
Urals are at $98.5 in Primorsk and $96.9 in Novorossiysk this week.
Tuapse is still on fire (see below), and Reuters reports both Tuapse and Novokuibishevsk oil refineries have been knocked out of commission.

Radev is pro-Russian, but will not be another Orbán. Coalition talks will make extreme positions on Ukraine hard to make, and his coalition will be unstable.
🇺🇦⚓ The Ukrainian Navy carried out a strike with Neptune missiles on the production facility of the Atlant Aero plant in Taganrog.
This enterprise manufactured Molniya strike-recon UAVs, components for the Orion system, as well as other parts for UAVs and space technology.
Why would they build a drone plant in Rostov

Non-core = no improvement in business, generally
Revaluation of debt securities likely refers to government bonds, but I’m not sure on that.
