I think I wrote a poem😂

Oh no. Must beautiful always have a sting.
Roses do and so,
Does beauty when it wants to go.
A prick, a bite, a sharp goodbye,
It leaves you blooming—and asking why.

Such an intensely beautiful color and even though it is classified as a weed around these parts I think it would look perfect in a cottage garden. It really pretty🙏

Funny thing is I have some photos somewhere of a recent Netflix movie set I came across on my walks. It was a year or so back they were filming a limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck's East of Eden l set to premiere on Netflix in 2026.
It's a crazy long way to come to film🎥

Crazy what they'll stoop to when they see the writing on the wall for their long term survival under a true democracy.

I think she had struggles with mental health issues too. Keeping in mind the times it probably wasn't, if there ever was, a good time to be treated.
Just checked it's quite sad what happened in years gone by😯😟

Well you have done good things in documenting many.
Where I live there are a similar vintage of timber constructed dwellings.
Gentrification at least has bought them time. But slowly corporates and developers find loop holes in regulations and sadly encroachment, intensification happens.

Virginia Woolf Thought Katharine Mansfield Stank Like a “Civet Cat Taken to Streetwalking” The long weekend that Katherine Mansfield spent at Garsington Manor, the home of Philip and Lady Ottoline Morrell near Oxford, from July 13-17, 1916, was a hectic one, with numerous literary and ar…

That same isolation exists in New Zealand too. So that aspiring artists have to leave to gain recognition.
Janet Frame struggled with being labeled non-conformist in small towns in a small country.
Those struggles produced some extraordinary people.

Called New Caledonia after a place in Scotland with Captain Cook naming it. The French annexation and conversion to a penal colony yet having an indigenous Melanesion population now that's a very unique history.
Living there would feel a world away.
American soldiers were all over the Pacific.

No not myself. But my wife, kids and grandkids. I'm always at home looking after the house and pets.
New Zealand's quite a distance from Australia.
1240 miles Auckland to Sydney. 3 to 4 hours flight time.
Did your relatives live in New Zealand or New Caledonia?

Love these old buildings.
Will the neighborhoods be gentrified or will the houses be removed and the land developed with dwellings Intensified?

You are well read!
Most people don't know anything about us.
Anonymity was always our superpower. Oh no! 😯
Australian and NZ is like USA and Canada on a much smaller scale. My ancestors on one side came to NZ from Australia in the 1850s and I have relatives there.

This makes me laugh out loud. I posted it somewhere else already today but it's so true to life I feel duty bound to tell everyone it explains everything about New Zealanders.

We loved cranking it when work mates were holding the wires 😂🫨😵‍💫
Oh the mirth
Happy days!
What we called fun.😂

So with the old phone above iirc they would pick up the receiver and crank the handle a set number of times, it would ring the others to determine who they wanted. Important a set number for the exchange operator who could connect you to the outside world. When you cranked that handle it would ring.

I think we might be 10 years behind everyone else in NZ.
Even if we're generally 1 day ahead.

Gosh thank you for noticing.
I try to be fair to people who've taken the time to ❤️or repost but it gets harder to keep up with everything so I appreciate it that you noticed.
Being from a small country, quite isolated, I think I will try to link more of the local unheralded music 🎶 🎵

Thank you Ann. Of course I thought of you when I placed that song there and wondered if I'd made the link prominent enough😄
It's quite dated now but perfectly describes my part of the world at this time of the year☺️🙏

Yes I'm post Victorian but I do remember as a child staying with relatives on their farms and they still had phones like this which were 1950s style.
They were party lines share between different farms within a community. No encryption, zero privacy 🫣😄

Ooohh! You call AI it...
As in it is not just an app, rather a being. An alien 👽 being. Now we're getting interesting. Could 'it' be collective consciousness, an accumulation of all thoughts and experiences?
That's kinda what I imagine but reasoning is clearly not my super power🦸‍♀️

Okay Pauline almost perfect.
Just one thing. I don't have an American accent. I'm a Kiwi, a New Zealander and we don't have accents.
We sound and reason like this 😂
