L.A. fires are bringing ash 100 miles offshore. Here’s how it may impact oceans The Eaton and Palisades fires produced ash and debris that coated ocean waters far off the California coast.

Smoke and ash from wildfires are linked to a number of serious health problems in humans, including heart disease, asthma and certain types of cancer and dementia.

It’s more unclear how wildfire smoke pollution impacts ocean species.
