“But Tilsen’s community answered the call. NDN Collective gained the support of 22,000 community members & more than 500 organizational leaders to support Tilsen & his leadership. In the end, the charges were dropped. Tilsen said, "My freedom was won by the people, the movement, & the ancestors."’
“RWJF grantees have always faced risks… More than a year after peacefully observing a law enforcement action involving a relative, police charged Tilsen with offenses that have a potential maximum sentence of 26 years in prison.”

Last night (4/1), NDN, Black Hills Clean Water Alliance, and Earthworks filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Forest Service for their decision in February to grant a permit for exploratory drilling in Pe’ Sla, a sacred and protected Indigenous site.
