And I’ve got a backlog from the past few days that I’ve been holding back due to all of this and will be posting today. Throw the bad habits out the window
Subconsciously I added a third criterion: simple, fast, and now *accessible*. Because, my brain says, if it’s accessible then that number will go higher. But when I’m sketching, this takes me out of the moment and away from the FEELING of the music which is like the entire damn point
Since I decided to share these daily sketches online, every sketch gets tracked, and each gets a score of how many listens, how many likes. I’ve found myself yearning to hit those higher numbers again. I mean okay they are very low in the grand scheme but number go up 🥴📈
By deciding to share *every day* it forces me to be very simple (counteracting the ambition) and very fast (counteracting the perfectionism). And it’s been a wonderful change of pace for me, I can’t tell you how refreshing.
And yet, the ambition has crept back in…
When I started my current daily practice of recording and releasing a sketch every day #Jamuary it was intended to change a couple bad habits of mine that have effectively blocked me from sharing any of my music for years. That is overambition and perfectionism.🧵
