Ready and raring to go 😊
All ready for Day 2 #QICN2025
1st day back at UWE, ACP MSc, starting year 2 due to modules I have already collected along the way. Day 1 PADRICP Module, I have dusted off some brain cells today and pleasantly surprised by how much I remember on ABG’s from my ICU days!
A beautiful insight into how knowing more about the dying process helps us to be better prepared and less afraid as we accompany our beloveds to their final breath.
Please read, please share.
The sooner we all know, the better.
And if you want to learn the signs that death is close, you could also watch this wonderful animation created by the very talented Emily Downe, with @drkathrynmannix.bsky.social explaining the process of “ordinary” dying:

We had a very special visitor at Prospect Hospice today, our President, HRH Queen Camilla, who spent time with patients and families. Whilst I was introduced to HRH, it was very fast but still a very big honour to be standing there with my Queen’s Nurse Badge on, and exchange a smile with the Queen.
Yesterday’s announcement from Wes Streeting is a much needed boost, but there is more to be done and a one off payment will only go so far, hospices need regular sustainable funding. www.nursingtimes.net/end-of-life-...
Absolutely fantastic news and so needed!
Thank you for shining a much needed light on the financial crisis hospices across the UK are facing - sustainable funding is needed for hospices to survive, but also to ensure patients truly have choice in their palliative and end of life care.
1/2 We had a fabulous time on Friday at the #QNIAwards2024 and have loved reading all our nurses' stories from the day! 🙌

So very proud to become a Queen’s Nurse. What a room of formidable nurses, who I look forward to learning from and working alongside whilst continuing to champion my passions, Community Nursing, Hospice Care, palliative and end of life care. Still glowing Dame Elizabeth 😊
