“I…” Higuchi started out, halfway through their lunch. “I’m sorry I wasn’t clear enough in my email.” Gin shook their head in negation, temporarily putting the chopsticks down so they could properly sign their response; speaking up in front of her wasn’t a problem anymore, but that was more practical given how the two of them were surrounded by noise. ‘It’s fine. Should’ve supposed you’d sent more details if it was about a job.’ Upon that, Higuhi let out a nervous laugh. “Well! I guess so, but…” She took a deep breath, and right after that the speed of her speaking increased significantly. “I wasn’t sure about how to ask you to come by, because I know things have been… tense?” That was one way to say it, sure, but Gin wasn’t really mad at her anymore; hadn’t been in long. Sure, they hadn’t been exactly thrilled about being chased around the city because Higuchi’s jealousy had acted up and prompted her to come up with a movie-plot-for-a-boring-day kind of explanation, but… it was difficult to stay mad at her. “So-- I didn’t want to act like nothing happened, but I also didn’t know how to bring up the subject so…”

She went on, doubling down on both reasoning and apologies, and as intently as Gin intended to listen (and was listening, really), they couldn’t help but dedicate a thought or two about how pretty she looked. Because she was, truly. Whether capable of seeing it or not, Higuchi was gorgeous, highly capable and bestowed with a heart that might not always be suited for the mafia work but had contributed in saving Ryûnosuke when that enemy organization took advantage of him being incapacitated to kidnap him. If only she could drop her tunnel vision towards making goggly eyes at him, who would never reciprocate anyway for a myriad of reasons… … and looked elsewhere, like in Gin’s direction… Little did they know yet, though, that such a wish was bound to not only come true but it had been kickstarted already too.

“You don’t like this game.” His dear Mr Hat Guy directly accused, in almost a whisper, as Cyno swiftly ran to go and fetch the cards.  Sethos made a mental note to keep poking him into giving a proper name, because damn if it was kind of silly, becoming head over heels for a man he could only call by what couldn’t more clearly be the most efficient nickname that could be given to him and nothing more. Then, he simply smiled and shrugged; what else to say, except for the truth? “Oh, no, I like it. It’s playing against Cyno what makes it a nightmare.” Was his own response, not bothering to keep his voice down. After all, Sethos had learned rather fast, everyone else at their table shared the same opinion. “Precisely.” Al-Haitham was the first to confirm it. “Damn right.” Kaveh followed suit. “You have no idea.” Tighnari then added, letting out a deep sigh. “But you will soon enough.”

“See? Even his husband dreads it.” Then there came another shrug, and shortly after Sethos earned himself a frown of somewhat confusion-- which was adorable as hell, by the way. “Then, why do you keep dragging me to join?” Well, fair enough. And, again, the question was going to be answered with nothing but the truth. “Easy, I like you.” His admission, his confession, being met by a scoff… ah, that didn’t discourage him in the slightest. Not when there was more in his hopefully soon-to-be boyfriend’s reaction than that: an expression that made him seem like a stray kitten who had been kicked and abandoned in the past, but was slowly relearning to accept affection. Little did he know such a comparison wasn’t that far-fetched.

Today I’d like to share a string of “mysterious numbers” with you all 😆. In Chinese, the number “9” sounds like the character “久” (jiǔ), which means “long-lasting.” Therefore, people often say “99” to wish a couple a lasting relationship.

Usually, numbers representing the characters or their symbols are added before “99”—in this fandom, 3 and 5 have become widely adopted to represent Aku (March) and Atsu (May) respectively. That’s why fans in the Chinese community often comment “3599” under related works 😂.

About real heroes and such?” Yes, given how everything had ended up well, Robert was going to allow himself to be a bit smug about it.  Besides, that was… sort of long overdue. “Shut the fuck up.” Was Flambae’s initial response, rolling his eyes in such an exaggerated manner there was no doubt he was doing it to make a point. “As if you could’ve done it without all of us in the first place, asshole.” It was true; after all, Robert hadn’t called the whole team for nothing, and there was no issue in letting it be known. “No, I couldn’t have.” He quickly agreed, and that seemed to throw him off even more than the ‘Thanks for being my babysitter’ moment. Funny.

“Oh, so you’re just trying to bother me here.” “Yep.” Flambae rolled his eyes again, sighing for extra effect, then for a moment it looked like he was in for one of the periodically not-super-scheduled punches Robert apparently still deserved (not like he would complain, they had become less frequent with time, and that still preferable to burn threats). That, though, wasn’t what happened, for in the blink of an eye he was wrapped around Flambae’s arms then out of them as if the whole thing had been a mirage. “Still wouldn’t catch a bullet for you, Robson.” He said, as if there was any need for explanations. “But I’m glad you and your round furball are still kicking.”
