I don’t think it’s hate as much as fear and expectation. Fear of what the job market will look like in 10 years and expectation of these models living behind paywalls after everyone has trained them.

Bob Ueker was a gem. He brought so many people to baseball with his understanding of the game and his sense of humor. His quotes are casually tossed through baseball talk without some folks realizing how many quips he came up with. I hope more broadcasters can learn from Bob and have some fun.

Being a lifelong A’s fan, I am not sure I would be happy if my team spent 3/4 of a billion on one player. That is wayyyy too much money to sign one player. 15 seasons of superstar money…I wonder how many seasons will be worth the cash.

Quality of the deal will depend on his health for sure. If his ERA stays sub 4 for 3 seasons, it will end up being a deal.

The A’s go ham on a pitcher that has pitched one full season since 2018…they are going to have to over pay every free agent.
