returned 3 hours later the pigeon was gone, hopefully devoured by the majestic creature which further research has led me to believe is in fact a rough-legged buzzard (note the feathered legs) and at that size and light colour more like than not a young female, about a month early down here

came across what id app says is a common buzzard while it was digging into a fresh kill in the city park. cautiously approached while keeping distance, however the bird got nervous and soon took off with such haste that it flung the kill, then revealed to be a former pigeon, into the air
