Streetlight records. A Bay Area chain w only 2 locations left I think. Other in Santa Cruz maybe. Big store w some nice discount bins but seems to do more cd / video sales. Have found a couple things there so if you have time worth a stop

On the corner music. Prob favorite store of those down in San Jose. Very small but no frills and nice selection for size. Focus mostly on used records. Pretty decent jazz section and always saw a few nice wall items there
Needle to the Groove. Stealing internet photos cuz I forget to take photos. Prob of San Jose stores bought most records here. Partly cuz I think they had a huge avant garde, ecm & 80s jazz buy a year or 2 ago but very good store w focus on hip hop / electronic but tons of jazz
#vinyl San Jose stores 1st. Didn’t actually get to San Jose much but did stop by 3 stores if in the city. Overall ranking 4 Bay Area sections for their record stores it’s prob in order 1. SF, 2. East Bay, 3. Marin, 4. San Jose. But there is some good stuff to be found there🧵
Finally leaving San Francisco / Bay Area after 15+ years. Mostly to be close to family but also Bay Area is too expensive & tired of tech bros esp AI shit. Anyway going to post a bunch about all the records stores in the area. Visiting a bunch before I leave (bad for moving ik…)
And here’s the us reissue cover. Original cover way way better imo
#NowPlaying #Jazz 1983 USSR. Back to the Soviet jazz. This is pretty heavy fusion prog leaning stuff. Kinda sounds like a more spaced out Jan Hammer w/ no vocals. Except for last song which gets pretty 80s jazz ballad-y
#jazz #vinyl prob used up my record digging luck for a long time... (not that this record is that crazy expensive but it was way way up there on my want list and Bonner is one of my favorites)
And here’s the original cover art which goes a bit harder
#NowPlaying #Jazz 1985 us reissue. More from Salvation Army Soviet Jazz haul. Guitar led jazz that kinda toes line between Jim Hall conventionality & poor man’s Larry Coryell fusion (not a bad thing!). Pretty nice stuff that goes a bit harder in spots than the reissue cover art
Also didn’t realize that I ended up picking up 3 different versions of this album. Think I like the us reissue cover the best
#NowPlaying #jazz 1982 USSR. Ganelin, Cekasin, Tarasov (Ganelin Trio) - Poi Segue. Some Soviet free jazz tonight. Early one from what would eventually be the Ganelin Trio. Live album. 1 long song stretched over 2 sides. Slow build on side 1 then gets looser on side 2
Sorry got lazy and only posted to twitter not here about some of them. Will post a couple here too tho just for you haha who seems like only person also into it (a weird jazz sicko) like me

1979 us. Oscar Peterson in electric piano w Joe Pass, NHOP & Louie Bellson. Idk what you’re doing now but you need to listen to the final song Teenager on this album. What a groove!
And here’s what I picked up. A number of these are different pressings of the same album. Love Namyslowski & aware of Ganelin trio but rest completely new to me
Still listening to everything I picked up!
Haha only that it means more Pablos in the discount bins for me. Most likely f not all you can find for 5-10 and the were recorded & pressed really well already no idea why there needs to be a $40-50 audiophile copy
Taking a break from posting Pablo records to share on here the most exciting thing that happened to me this week
1982 us. A great Oscar Peterson live trio album. Worth it for the title track specifically which is from a larger suite he never finished. Stunning song. Also has some of the best sounding live bass recording I’ve ever heard. NHOP sounds immense
1975 us. I’ve found that any Joe pass on Pablo is going to be really good. And this is one of the best of the bunch. Pass leads a trio through some Duke Ellington compositions
11/10
Haha the cover photo is so funny to me. He looks like he ate a way too big meal and is full of regret
1982 us. Another Pablo favorite. Group title is misleading as it’s actually a quintet album w additional percussion on a couple tracks. Harold Land is the other horn on the album. 1st song especially would have killed on an early CTI album. What were they thinking w Hubbard’s photo tho!?
1984 us. 2b of favorite Pablo records so far. Not quite sure why this one works so well compared to others he released on pablo w his orchestra but something very classic about the song choices (mostly blues) on this
1974 us. Prob my 2nd favorite of the Pablo albums I’ve picked up. Joe Pass does in fact prove his virtuosity on this album & he would go on to do so 2 more times
Also includes a really cool booklet
1975 us. Restarting some posts here since twitter is getting worse again. Been really into Pablo records recently so going to post some favorites I’ve picked up recently. This has probably been my favorite so far. Amazing piano / bass duet album
Nice thanks! Mostly got tired (too lazy) of posting in both places but yeah w twitter as bad as it is now haha imagine I’ll be here instead soon
#NowPlaying #jazz 1975. Picked this up w/out ever hearing it based on names involved. Opening track has some spoken word poetry & last track closes w the whole group having what sounds like a full on celebration. In between is some great free playing w thundering drums
