By closing loopholes and ending giveaways, we can free up billions in public funds for clean energy, disaster recovery, and community resilience instead of corporate welfare.
The companies are scared of the growing movement in states and communities to make them pay for climate damages, and they want to escape trial in the growing number of lawsuits over their climate lies.
Across the country, states are advancing climate superfund bills, taking oil companies to court, and calling to end fossil fuel subsidies and tax breaks. Together, these efforts make up the Make Polluters Pay agenda.
Climate superfund laws, climate accountability lawsuits, and the end of polluter handouts all share the same goal: saving tax payer dollars making polluters clean up their mess. taxpayers, pay for the damage they caused.
The climate crisis is already costing Americans billions. Fossil fuel companies that knowingly caused this damage must pay their fair share.
Just like we make companies clean up toxic waste sites, Big Oil should have to clean up their climate mess.
