Last two paintings side by side for context. I’m going to spend the next few months painting mostly from life which I am excited about!

Beautiful…love the colors reflected in the shadows.

2nd pass on this corner! I usually do 2-4 passes because I think it adds a certain depth and luminosity that I really like.
I’m hoping to keep this painting as lush as possible to play up the movement of the crowd. That balance between “right” and “loose” is a real struggle sometimes! #oilpainting

Just put the finishing touches on this one I am donating to Bainbridge Island Museum of Art for their annual fundraiser. It was a fun one to paint!

Hi! First post here on Bluesky! Here is my Hourly Comics this year featuring Oolong! These were all observations from Feb 1 done in quick successions. l've always wanted to do an hourly comic from the POV of a dog and I guess I finally did it. (Part 1/4)

Oh wow that is so cool!

Haha so true. I think maybe because we tend to post finished pieces totally cropped and then they read more as “photos” and not objects that exist in context. Especially if you work in realism!

So true!! I know art saves the life of at least one person (me) so I guess that’ll have to do!
Also, it’s kind of nice to be a “new account” again. It feels so freeing. 😄

Day 1…block-in complete! Now the fun part begins - also known as the part where I try to avoid A) ruining it B) falling out of love with idea C) deciding painting is a ridiculous way to spend time and resources when there are people literally starving. #contemporaryartist #figurativeart #oilpainting

I’ve been trying to decide how I want to use this new account and I think I have landed on sharing sketches/studies here solely. Sometimes on Instagram I feel like every post/artwork has to outdo the previous one and I start feeling shy about posting anything at all and that is not how I want to be!
