illustration inspired by Charlotte Perkins-Gilman's 1891 short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" depicting a woman touching sickly yellow torn wallpaper on a wall while shadowy hands reach toward her. There is another tall shadow of a figure on the wall and both figures look toward the viewer.
"The color is repellent, almost revolting; a smouldering unclean yellow, strangely faded by the slow-turning sunlight."
I made a "Yellow Wallpaper" piece back in 2017, but I re-read the story over the weekend and wanted to try again. Much happier with this version 🖤

ahhh thank you so much for your kind words, and for the repost! just to be clear, there's no explicit ace rep in the story, though Mallory can definitely be interpreted that way! but I really hope you will enjoy the story and anthology when it comes out 🩷

"It was beautiful, the way in which they never collided, their swarm made up of the shards of sky I could see between their insectile bodies."

in a vacant, undistinguished but dramatically shadowed space, maelle hosts a childlike tea party for plush versions of verso, monoco, and esquie. she wears her post-revelation/act 3 outfit, and pours ink into verso's cup. it's overflowing, but she smiles contentedly. two out of three of the other cups sit filled and some wet paintbrushes lay a smeared sheet, all items set around a plate with a croissant and one and a half macaroons.
getting a lot of madoka magica rebellion vibes from this.....

Chapter 1 of Moby Dick, page 1
The phrase ‘Call me Ishmael’, the first sentence of the book, is highlighted in blue, with careful highlighting on the very big C at the start. Above this, written in ballpoint pen ‘His name’
Love the glimpse into the beautiful mind that notated this used copy of Moby Dick I got

Three trumpeter swans stand on the edge of the ice on a partially frozen body of water. Two of the swans are large all-white adults. The adult swan closest to the camera has a yellow identification tag on their wing. The swan in the middle is smaller, grey-feathered, and preening their tail. This swan is a juvenile.
A wider vertical shot of 8 trumpeter swans standing on the ice on a partially frozen body of water. In the distance, there is a dock and trees along the shoreline, part of a public park. One of the adult swans, one with wing tags, looks out at the dock and trees. The other adult swan is looking at the water. Between them are 6 juvenile trumpeter swans, grey-feathered, all in some stage of preening themselves. They all appear calm and content on this cold winter day.
Happy winter birding season! I do a lot of birding and had the wonderful opportunity to visit this family of 8 trumpeter swans. Look at these beautiful birds!

Drawing of a white cat sitting in a garden with flowers in the blue, pink, and white colors of the trans pride flag. Flowers from top are blue hydrangea, pink roses, white snowbells, pink daisies and blue lobelia. The cat has one blue eye and one green eye.
I'm drawing every day but mostly for projects that are in progress so I'll probably use this year's #ArtAdventCalendar event to look back at my favorite drawings I did this year, starting with this one! I had the idea of the outline of a white cat against a garden and it slowly evolved into this.
