One angry Republican writes: "Fairfax County, VA, has a total area of approximately 406-407 square miles, with a land area of about 391 square miles. In contrast, Virginia has a land area of roughly 39,490 square miles. Therefore, Fairfax Co. covers just over 1% of Virginia's total land area, despite holding over 1M people. Census Data (.gov) Under what circumstances can it be considered fair for 1% of the land area of an entire state to override the will of the other 99% of occupied territory?" The voice of reason replies: "The preamble to the constitutions starts 'We the people'not 'We the acres'. Pretty much the rest of it continues to define the rights of people. It never really gets into rights for acres or square miles."
Most explicit version of the GOP's complaint I've seen yet.
Acres don't vote, folks, people do.
For the record, Fairfax is just over 13% of the state's population. The only county in the top 10 population-wise that voted No was Newport News.
