Cause your literally degenerating, herniating, slipping your disks For measly/misreable/offensively shit pay and shit insurance these companies are giving you. Headed by billionaires living in nice an comfortable home where they can easly pay out of pocket for their own healthcare.

Luigi presumably suffers just like many of us here do every day. I'm sure many of us here also have experienced how difficult it is to navigate the labyrinthine and exploitative insurance companies who profit directly off of our suffering. The only way for me to function anywhere close to the level of a regular human being is to go get steroid injections a couple times a year. I'm paying thousands of dollars per year (on a very average American salary) in order to continue living my life somewhat normally. Why should my condition enrich the lives of CEOs and shareholders? In his role as CEO at UHC, Brian Thompson inflicted more pain and suffering on humanity than Luigi Mangione's singular act ever will. Denied claims, sky-high costs, ridiculous red tape — think of how many families have been ruined by these policies. It's murder by a different name only — social murder. I don't think anyone should take someone's life from them lightly, but I also don't think Mangione is a mad man. Far from it. What recourse do we have for change when our representatives are bought and sold by the very institutions we seek to reform? Insisting that "violence is never the answer" is a lovely thought in a vacuum, but I think it's completely naive. Corporations will take, take, take from us until we have nothing left to give if we let them.

Had a great day today at #CIUK talking to all the cool research projects, meeting vendors and representing JASMIN on our stand.. As @cjcshadowsan.bsky.social said, it really is like the UK #HPC community Christmas party. 🎄

Looking forward to the evening event later!

Very frustrating journey to #CIUK, stuck for four hours on a stopped CrossCountry train outside Stamford waiting for a broken freight train to be moved. Staff great but had no information.

I’ll miss the evening event, but looking forward to getting to Manchester at some point this evening!
