It's a snip from another platform. A man sleeps while an huge crab looms over him. Captions say "Don't worry you are not alone" and "We've hired a crab to watch over you". The comment on the post is "Crab Museum takes no responsibility for it smashing your flat to bits in search of tidbits of algae, whale flesh, or a simple good time. Why isn't Margate's Crab Museum on Bluesky?

They figure if you’ve paid/made arrangements to pay previous bills, maybe they can probably bilk you for more. (Kidding, they’re just really bad at math.)

A useful graphic of what definitely not to do with said armband www.reddit.com/r/meirl/s/O7...

Seriously. His father also wore one glove, a white fedora, and any number of other accessories that would immediately make everyone go ‘ooooh, MJ!’. A red armband Is So Not It, unless his message is ‘hey guys I’m Michael Jackson’s son and also an actual Nazi’.

A $21,000 BYD EV Now Gets 1000kw 5 Minute Fast Charging! YouTube video by The Electric Viking

Ah, looks like that might’ve been a BYD. Rate of delivery does seem to be a major factor in charging speed.

That’d cost more to manufacture, but should save time and money over the car’s operational lifetime, without having to retrofit existing charging stations with multiple cables per vehicle. If it’s delivery rate, I dunno. Bigger cables?

1 day ago 1 0 1 0

I’m not clear on whether the limitation on charging speed is the amount of electricity that can be delivered at once or the rate at which the battery stores it. If it’s the latter, 3-4 smaller batteries that charge in tandem could be faster than one big one…

So, I'd like us to really focus in on what we are saying when we say, "Well, yes, Heinlein was kinda sexist (racist, homophobic), but you have to remember, he was a man of his time." Why is that caveat not just flat out disqualifying?

Hookland has a long tradition of winged-dogs known as Feorhunds. Even the stone representations of them have a reputation for unbidden climbing and flying. Some say the nets hung around St. Agatha at Belford Darrow are to counter their proclivities for zooming around its tower.

This is one way to forestall ‘float bloat’, I guess. Wonder if RFKjr came up with it? 😒

Damn, these kids have it so easy. We had to drink a whole 4-pack of Bartles and Jaymes to get that much alcohol back in the day.

Its not unusual.

Trump is using the Iran conflict to manipulate the markets and tipping off his cronies each time he intends to make oil prices go up or down.

Bless their hearts. It’ll be used for whatever the guys who own the capital (and therefore the compute) necessary to make AI in its current form happen say it’ll be used for, and actual (vs ‘effective’, what bullcrap that is!) altruistic aspirations be damned.

Fair enough on the H1B holders’ situation - and their being hostages to Elon’s whims makes it even more likely they’re sabotaging Grok, lol. But the rest? When the boss says he’s building a Torment Nexus, no amount of employee idealism will turn it into a Yay Engine.

It’s hard to see at this point how engineers and developers working for Altman, Musk, Thiel, et al, could be unaware of their bosses’ intentions. Unless they’re actively sabotaging the technology (which might explain why it’s so crappy, come to think of it) they must be on board.

The risk of unleashing zoonotic plagues on humankind and/or contaminating roost sites with white-nose fungus spores are excellent reasons to do one’s bat appreciating from a respectful distance, for sure.

To be fair, the inventors of AI have been pretty open about their intention to replace human employees and entrench their own shitty privilege.
