If Babylon 5 was as big as Star Wars I imagine we would had gotten books with pages like this. As an artist, I can try making them reality in a way.

I hope you enjoy! Babylon 5 is a great show with an expansive expanded universe. It is great stuff.

You ain't wrong. Also yet another case of Weirdly Celtic Jesus made more blatant by the subliminal WASP prejudices which cause the devil to be depicted with more eastern mediterranean/semitic/near eastern features than a guy from Bethlehem.

Copy of Renaissance painter Titian's painting "Flora," cropped to just her head & shoulders. 3/4 view looking left, statuesque rather impassive expression. Elaborate partial updo of dark honey-colored hair held up with thin braids.

So anyway, latest #oilpainting from my #artclass - a Titian study, and WIP portrait of my late, great housemate Pumpkin using same technique (underpainting light/shadow, then glazes of translucent color on top which appear slightly luminous bc light passes through instead of bouncing off)

A lovely mossy boulder with a face. I walked past this venerable stone gentleman on Dartmoor when I was beginning to write my first novel, Villager, and it whispered all 104,000 words of the book to me. So now I have to pay it all of my royalties. Unfortunately my ex-publisher stopped paying me royalties last year. Understandable, the boulder was not happy. But now I have a new publisher and the book has been republished. So remember if you purchase a copy you will be helping a boulder to eat, pay the rent on his riverside moss garden, and feed his boulder family.

Yes it could be argued that keeping up with world events is important but alternatively can I interest you in hugging an ancient mossy boulder that looks like a face and quietly listening while it tells you stories from centuries cloaked in mist.

Ariane 6 ready for liftoff on the launch pad.

That's our baby, she's iconic 🫰

And couldn't be possible without a strong European team!

Arianespace: launch service provider.
Arianegroup: prime contractor and design authority.
@cnes.fr: oversees Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana and is responsible for developing the Ariane 6 launch site.

More #histmed. @theguardian.com has changed the image accompanying their review of this new book on the Black Death, & explain the prior one was leprosy. But they don't acknowledge the source of the corrected information! Folks, this info comes from scholarship. www.theguardian.com/books/2026/a...

The Trump administration is still trying to sell the Forest Service “reorganization” as a good thing. The U.S. Forest Service Facebook made a video and just posted it. Something tells us the 10,000+ comments on every post they make about this isn’t sitting well. Keep making Pretti Good trouble!

I see so little AI here because I've followed real artists, and real artists tend to want to see AI server farms burn.

Bravo to the people of Surprise, AZ for protesting this concentration camp. It sounds like the Mayor & City Council still haven't gotten the message. If they refuse to stop it, perhaps locals can petition changing the town name from "Surprise" to "We Knew" with his face, their names on its seal.

Thank you. It has at least a note of the comedic: I realized last night that to celebrate my birthday, I am literally going to floss my cat. (Tuesday is the vet's dental day.)

(In Kelsey's defense — it was BLINKING. With no atmosphere to cause it. Livestream buffering was playing tricks.)

I was tickled by that brief interval during eclipse when Kelsey tentatively identified the mysterious blinking light as something on Orion and asked SCIENCE to confirm. They replied that the Unidentified Flashing Object was, in fact, Venus. Yep, Venus mistaken for a spaceship, a classic blunder! 😅

It's my birthday. And this is the first thing I'm doing now that I'm fully conscious and up to speed on the psychopath's latest war crimes as legally defined by the Geneva Accords the US helped draft. (Article 8.)
Please, do the same.

Oh, wow. So many other worlds visible in the background of the Artemis II view from eclipse, peeking out of the haze of the solar corona. Thanks @tunctezel.bsky.social for labeling!

My personal highlight for yesterday's historic #artemis #lunarflyby : During Victor Glover's vivid reporting on the "scifi" solar eclipse, my cat Luna — who'd been scared, silent, and hiding under the bed when I adopted her and her mom a year ago — came over and started yelling at me for attention😅

Title:
Artemis II Crew Members Name Their Orion Spacecraft
Author: Rachel H. Kraft
Date: September 24, 2025
Main text:

The Artemis II crew members named their Orion spacecraft Integrity during a news conference Sept. 24. The name Integrity embodies the foundation of trust, respect, candor, and humility across the crew and the many engineers, technicians, scientists, planners, and dreamers required for mission success. The name is also a nod to the extensive integrated effort – from the more than 300,000 spacecraft components to the thousands of people across the world – that must come together to venture to the Moon and back, inspire the world, and set course for a long-term presence at the Moon. Integrity is rooted in a shared core value of NASA, the agency’s astronaut office, and the CSA (Canadian Space Agency).

The most difficult part of the #Artemis mission. I feel a strange urge to quote NASA on why this crew chose the name "Integrity" for the capsule where they'd be spending 10 days in each other's laps.
