Historians dispute link between drought and rebellion in Roman Britain A study based on tree rings claimed that droughts played a role in events that led to the Roman withdrawal from Britain, but other researchers say that isn't backed up by historical evidence

For #FindsFriday, a decorated sherd of Iron Age pottery found in the upper fill of a chalk-cut storage pit in a banjo enclosure at Winterborne Kingston #Dorset

Photographed at the moment of discovery in June 2022

What will we find when #Durotriges26 starts later in the year?

Testing Clay Bodies for Tea โ€” The Road Less Travelled Chinese machine-made pot (left); Vietnamese handmade teapot (right)

Testing Clay Bodies for Tea

Side by side comparison of the taste of tea in different clay teapots. It is clear that unglazed clay has an impact on flavour, colour and aroma. My personal results.

Isotopes reveal how social status shaped diet in medieval England Isotope analysis reveals that social status and wealth had a profound impact on diet in medieval England, showing that people from different social groups in medieval Cambridge ate markedly different food.

Isotope analysis of medieval Cambridge skeletons indicates that social status strongly influenced diet, with wealthier individuals consuming more animal protein than poorer townspeople.

Archaeological finds push Castlegate scheme ยฃ8m over budget Council is bidding for more funds to complete the public park and events space in Sheffield city centre.

Terribly misleading headline. I suspect the cost is more to do with "Technical challenges in uncovering the River Sheaf have been the other main reason for the programme extensions and cost increases"

Things used in everyday life are the real archaeological treasures! These sewing #needles were made from animal bone some 15,000 years ago. Some designs simply don't need to be improved, because form and functions were perfectly matched from the start. Form follows function! ๐Ÿงต1/2
