April 13th is now “Borinqueneers Day” in Chicago! 🇵🇷
We were extremely happy and grateful to spotlight Puerto Rican culture, the historic 65th Infantry Regiment Borinqueneers, and share this resolution with the community this afternoon at Daley Plaza.
I am honored to share my resolution declaring April 13th “Borinqueneers Day” in Chicago. We will also be joined by AfriCaribe, who will perform Bomba y Plena, with light refreshments provided by Veteran Roasters Cafe.

A new CVS location will be opening in the 36th Ward on Division and Lawndale - a welcomed investment in our community that has faced many of those challenges discussed. Healthcare needs to be accessible and available. With this new pharmacy coming to the neighborhood, we reaffirm that commitment.
There are many challenges facing access to healthcare, especially from the changes we have seen on the Federal level. Bringing groups together like this is an important step in making sure we are helping in every way we can on the local level.
I was grateful to be on this panel moderated by Karen Freeman-Wilson, CEO and President of the Chicago Urban League, along with James Rodriguez, a CVS Pharmacist, and Karriem S. Watson, CEO of Mile Square Health Center and Aetna Better Health IL.
Thank you, CVS Health, for hosting an important discussion around access to healthcare, public-private partnerships, and having a community-oriented approach to providing service.

Early this morning at 12:50 AM on Grand Avenue and Normandy, police responded to a call of a 17-year-old boy who was in the street unresponsive. Officers confirmed he had been shot several times and was transported to Loyola Hospital.
As my colleague stated, there is something more to this story, and the Mayor owes it to the public to be transparent.
