I think itâs not helpful to repeat claims that the administration is working on eliminating âDEIAâ as though itâs some kind of corporate strategy; just say explicitly that theyâre trying to eliminate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and explain how.
Our new paper led by @sarah-foster.bsky.social compares rapport between autistic groups, non-autistic groups, and mixed groups of autistic and non-autistic adults during a building activity. We found that the all-autistic groups⌠journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

Yes this is so important. And also please hold how many disabled people are disabled Black and Brown folks, disabled trans and queer folks. Itâs those at the intersections of multiple oppressions: racism, ableism, anti-Blackness, cisheteropatriarchy that are in the most danger.
#Gaza: The temporary ceasefire in #Gaza is a relief but it comes after 465 days and 46 000 lives lost.
This is just the beginning of addressing the immense humanitarian & medical needs.
#Israel must end its blockade & ensure access to a scale-up of humanitarian aid.

A 67 year old amputee and wheelchair user lived with his son who had cerebral palsy.
They were killed in the Eaton fire while waiting for an ambulance that never arrived.
Many disabled people can not evacuate on their own. They need to be included in evacuation plans (yet almost never are)
All participants will receive a small payment at each visit. If you are interested or would like to learn more, please contact us at ProjectKISS@childrens.harvard.edu or 617-919-6841.â
Participation will include one screening call and three visits over approximately three months. During the study, researchers will collect information about social skills as well as knowledge and experience with dating and sexuality.
The goal of this research study is to work together with autistic adults to develop better ways to measure the specific skills needed for sexual health and dating.
Researchers at Boston Childrenâs Hospital are seeking autistic and non-autistic adults aged 18-35 years, who are fluent English speakers, to help develop a toolkit for measuring social skills used for dating and sex.
Yes!! We talked with @kbottemabeutel.bsky.social about ABA research COIs at TPGA. Specifically she told us, âwe shouldnât have a separate set of lower standards that we only apply to autism research.â

Photo shared by Iman for Colorado on Instagram of indigenous person with colorful bird feathers tied to a head wrap. They are looking up and the sun is shining on their face while dancing. Four large Palestinian flags waving in the background as other indigenous community members dance.
Today we reflect on Indigenous Peoples' Day and the struggle for justice, sovereignty, and self-determination.

On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, we call on the government to end its participation in genocide.
We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, today and every day, until there is a free and independent Palestine.
Here are some of the key people, organizations, and platforms working to end U.S. support for Israel's genocide of Palestinians.
Feel free to reply with additional suggestions of accounts I should add.

The infographic âAnti-Palestinian Racismâ outlines its definition, manifestations, impact, and global occurrence. It features three diverse figures and uses a red, beige, and brown palette. Here is the full text: ANTI-PALESTINIAN RACISM NAKBA DENIAL Denying Palestinian history or rejecting the rights of Palestinian refugees. DEHUMANIZATION Erasing the human rights and equal dignity of Palestinians. FAILING TO ACKNOWLEDGE Palestinians as an Indigenous people with a collective Palestinian identity, belonging, and rights. EXCLUDING Excluding or pressuring others to exclude Palestinians or expressions of solidarity with Palestinians. VIOLENCE OR JUSTIFICATION OF VIOLENCE Violence or justification of violence against Palestinians. DENYING, DISTORTING, OR SILENCING Palestinian narratives. What Is It? A form of racism that silences, excludes, erases, stereotypes, dehumanizes, or defames Palestinians or Palestinian narratives. Anti-Palestinian racism is distinct from Islamophobia. Who Is Affected? Palestinians, those perceived to be Palestinian, and non-Palestinians who support Palestinian rights, of multiple religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Since many people who experience anti-Palestinian racism (APR) are not Muslim, addressing APR under Islamophobia excludes a significant number of those impacted, noting that all forms of anti-racist efforts can co-exist. Where Does It Occur? Anti-Palestinian racism is rooted in the systemic oppression Palestinians experience as a colonized people under Israeli rule, but it occurs globally, especially in countries that support the Israeli government to advance their own imperial interests. What Are Its Effects? Anti-Palestinian racism can cause physical, mental, and emotional harm to both those who experience it and those who witness it. Ultimately, it functions to justify and uphold systems of oppression, whether their manifestations are implicit or overt. Visualizing Palestine Sources bit.ly/vp-apr | NOV 2024
I have been personally affected by anti-Palestinian racism this past year, and I cannot imagine the experiences my Palestinian colleagues have endured. Don't be a bystander!

Open access Research 101 training is now available. It was created with Autistic adults. Ideally, researchers would use this training for their Autistic collaborators who want more information about research. salvesen-research.ed.ac.uk/our-projects...
Itâs as though researchers and professionals have convinced themselves that this is strong evidenceâand I think theyâve gaslighted themselves into believing it, too!
When I learned just how weak the evidence supporting ABA truly is, I felt completely gaslighted. Now, many years later, I work in the same place, and sadly, not much has changed regarding intervention recommendations.
Iâm so glad I trusted my instincts and stopped the services, even though it was terrifying.
That same year, I was fortunate to take your class and get to know you. To this day, you are the only person who told me that I was right to trust my judgment, and that meant the world to me.
It astonishes me how many practitioners still firmly advocate for 20-40 hours of ABA without hesitation or critical reflection. I remember telling my son's doctor that ABA didnât feel right to me, and she insisted that "good ABA" might seem tough at first and encouraged me to stick with it.
The image is a statement from Doctors Against Genocide (DAG), marked by their logoâa circular orange emblem with the organizationâs name. The statement addresses the humanitarian crisis affecting children in conflict zones, published on November 20, 2024, for International Childrenâs Day. Below is the exact text from the image: Doctors Against Genocide Statement on International Childrenâs Day: WORLD LEADERS HAVE TURNED THE WORLD INTO A GRAVEYARD FOR CHILDREN November 20, 2024 On this International Childrenâs Day, Doctors Against Genocide (DAG) calls on healthcare professionals, institutions, and global citizens to join our âNot Another Child, Not Another Hospitalâ campaign. The ongoing slaughter in Palestine, Lebanon, and Sudan demands immediate global action. A Graveyard for Children: The Systematic Crime of Pedicide Over 20,000 children have been killed in Gaza and Lebanon in the past year. UNICEF has declared Gaza a âgraveyard for childrenâ and the UN has described Israelâs deliberate bombings as a âwar on children.â These atrocities go beyond tragic casualtiesâthey constitute pedicide, the deliberate targeting and systematic destruction of children, their family units, and their futures as a tool of warfare. The relentless genocide in Gaza has forged a harrowing reality: the largest cohort of pediatric amputees in history. Women are forced to deliver infants without anesthesia, bringing them into a world UNICEF chillingly describes as âbeing born into hell.â Over 135,000 children under two teeter on the brink of severe malnutrition, while countless others languish in makeshift shelters, deprived of safe water and sufficient food. With winter fast approaching, these dire conditions will become even more catastrophic.
The image is a continuation of a statement from Doctors Against Genocide (DAG). Below is the exact text: ⢠⢠⢠Sudan is today the world's largest child displacement crisis. Over 14 million children are in need of humanitarian assistance, with 4.6 million displaced from their homes and nearly 1 million seeking refuge across borders. Acute malnutrition, preventable diseases, and a crumbling healthcare system are putting millions of children's lives at risk. Education is under attack, with 17 million children out of school. Pedicide is not collateral damage-it is a deliberate act aimed at destroying an entire generation. It is a moral catastrophe, demanding accountability and immediate global action. Silence in the face of pedicide is complicity Medicide, the systematic destruction of healthcare infrastructure, and the targeting of medical professionals to annihilate a population's ability to sustain life and health. Over 2200 Healthcare workers have been killed, maimed, or injured while performing their protected duties-treating patients, delivering humanitarian aid, and bearing witness to atrocities. The global medical community remains largely silent in the face of these crimes. It is time to call this by its name: medicide. Silence is complicity. A Call to Action On this International Children's Day, we urge healthcare professionals and institutions worldwide to: ⢠Demand an Immediate Ceasefire and an End to Genocide. ⢠Protect children, hospitals, and healthcare workers. ⢠Allow unhindered humanitarian aid and rebuild healthcare systems in Gaza, Lebanon, and Sudan. ⢠Join the "Not Another Child, Not Another Hospital" campaign.
The image is a continuation of a statement from Doctors Against Genocide (DAG). Below is the exact text: As Dr. Mahmoud Abu Nujaila, a physician in Gaza, wrote before he was killed in an Israeli airstrike: âWhoever stays until the end, will tell the story. We did what we could. Remember us.â We owe it to these healthcare workers, the children, and the future generations to carry their stories, to demand justice, and to act decisively to prevent further atrocities. Join Us Join us in our commitment to building a just world where healthcare is protected, children are safe, and every life is valued. We can make âNot Another Child, Not Another Hospitalâ a global rallying cry for change. Join the campaign here. The image features an inspirational quote by Lilla Watson surrounded by artistic line drawings of two women and white birds. The quote is displayed in the center of the image inside a pale circular background, which contrasts with the surrounding muted yellow color. It reads: âIf you have come here to help me, youâre wasting your time. If you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.â On the left, a line drawing of a woman wearing a hijab and a headpiece made of intricate flowers is depicted, with delicate facial features and flowing lines. On the right, another line drawing portrays a woman with long hair adorned with leaves and flowers, her face calm and reflective. White birds in flight are scattered across the image, adding a sense of freedom and movement. The overall tone is soft and empowering, emphasizing unity and collaboration.

Hi all, everything is terrible, but taking Arabic classes with Ahmed from Nablus in Palestine in not. It's been super amazing and lovely. Mumtaz in fact đ! I am an extreme beginner, and that was fine. Please consider supporting Ahmed while learning Arabic, you won't regret it.
However, I think the IEPâs language and format itself is ableist and deficit-based. I think there should be a section for school-level interventions in IEP, mentioning goals for school. How this school is trying to be more inclusive and how these goals are going to be measured?
Thank you so much for offering your help! I have asked the school to provide school-wide intervention to foster understanding differences and inclusion. They agreed with me that is needed and said they would look into it. I am going to follow up with them with some ideas on the programs.
Through my journey, Iâve learned we canât address ableism without addressing racism, sexism, white supremacy, colonialism, and other systems of oppressions. A must read article!
