‘The tide is turning’, Green party leader tells crowd at march against far right – as it happened Organisers claim half a million people are marching through central London, protesting against the rise of the far right

How can the BBC justify how much coverage they give other marches which are significantly smaller in size?

The bias is so obviously blatant.

Our crackdown on visa abuse is now in force says the home office. From today study viaals will be refused for applicants from Sudan, Afghanistan, Cameroon and Myanmar. We will always offer sanctuary to those fleeing danger but we must stop exploiting generosity.

'Discrimination': Noun: "the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people".

This Labour government should be ashamed.

Dear Shabana,
I notice today that you referred to me in your speech on immigration at the IPPR think tank.
You said: “A party leader should not be on the beaches of France encouraging people to
make a perilous crossing on small boats.”
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised especially after the hateful Labour campaign in Gorton
and Denton, but this is just the latest in a string of lies peddled by a discredited Government
who intentionally fan the flames of racism and division.
When I went to Calais, I was not there to encourage people to travel to the UK. I was there
to see at first hand the suffering your Government and successive Governments have done
in demonising migrants in a pathetic bid to pander to the base instincts of Reform and the
flawed strategy of Morgan McSweeney.
As you will know, if you even bothered to research my visit instead of taking Reform talking
points, I was there to witness the brutality of families living in tents in freezing temperatures. I
filled water tanks and picked up litter.
What that visit did do is confirm my belief that if we are to smash the boat gangs and stop
the boats, we need to offer safer and managed routes for migrants to come to this country.
Showing compassion as a politician is not a crime. In fact, we need to see much more of it.
It reminded me of a young MP who in October 2015 spent three days in Lesbos helping
migrants fleeing war-torn Syria. She posted videos on X, talked about handing out water and
croissants to refugees and food parcels.
When she returned to the UK, she wrote a very moving piece in the New Statesman. She
said “we have to work with our European partners and create new, safe, and legal routes for
refugees to get to Europe. We cannot abandon them to their fate, left as prey for smugglers
whilst risking death on the seas.”
She said “maybe we can make ourselves feel better by saying no-one is making them get on
the boats. And again, the Home Secretary is not entirely wrong when …

Dear Shabana,

Let's clear some things up around migration and remember we're talking about people's lives.

I hope the likes of Isabellend Oakeshitt, Dick Tice and the rest of those ghouls remember the advice they'd give to refugees fleeing danger - go to the first safe country. Not here.

BBC bosses don't seem to care
their right-wing bias is getting
dangerously close to election criminality

This is the funniest headline I seen in a long time. And bravo to whoever underlined the desperation with the juxtaposed link.

By no stretch am I a staunch defender of Starmer nowadays, but good grief Sarwar has made himself look like such a blithering twat.

Weaker than a nun's piss, this Starmer fella. I'm not even just talking about allowing McSweeney & Allan to hang on for so long. I'm talking about his recent 'diplomatic' trip to China, where he clearly made no effort to secure the release of Jimmy Lai, who now has a 20yr sentence. Fucking useless.

In 2024 we voted to turn over a fresh page, but Morgan McSweeney graffitied a giant hairy cock and balls on it. The geezer can’t do enough sodding off if you ask me.

Starmer still standing by McSweeney is just other-worldly levels of stupid. Geezer's fucked.

Nigel Farage was mentioned 43 times in the Epstein files.

But you don’t see any of the ‘political’ journalists mention this do you?

Instead it’s the usual diatribes against Starmer.

These people are an embarrassment

It's crazy that the richest group of people in the UK are in their 60-80's and they had everything for free, everything nationalised so it was cheap.

And most of them now vote to make everything terrible for everyone else so they will never have it as good as them.

I bet the right are glad they can leave behind Tory failings and back the party of Boris Johnson's chancellor, culture secretary and parliamentary secretary, Liz Truss' Home Secretary, skills minister and schools minister and Rishi Sunak's defence minister, immigration minister and deputy chairman.

Former Tory Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi defects to Reform UK Zahawi is the latest former Conservative MP to join Nigel Farage's party, as a Tory source claims he had approached Kemi Badenoch seeking a nomination for the Lords.

He might have been Lord Zahawi
And rode in a gilded carriage
But he chose a far nobler path
And climbed into bed with Farridge. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The PM and Foreign Secretary should be condemning this illegal strike and breach of international human rights law.

After years of arming a genocide and worshipping the “special relationship”, Trump now believes he can act with impunity.

Pro-Brexit Majority Of 2016 'Has Literally Died Out', Polling Expert Reveals The founder of YouGov said there is now an 8.1 million majority in favour of rejoining the EU.

"The founder of YouGov said there is now an 8.1 million majority in favour of rejoining the EU".

Haven't we waited long enough for our politicians to catch up with public opinion? What on earth are they waiting for?

Remember the "will of the people"?
