All my postdoc birdies coming home to roost!
Our global study (80k+ people, 60+ countries) shows that religious homonegativity isn't just conservatism or authoritarianism - it’s mostly about traditional gender norms!

3. ‘Gay allowance’ is real. Queer men may be “allowed” to be feminine—but only in ways that fit stereotypes, reinforcing inequality.
2. Privilege changes the rules. Straight, white, or more “masculine” men often get a pass, while others face harsher policing.
Three main findings from my new research on men’s femininity:
1. Femmephobia is everywhere. All men in the study recalled negative reactions when they expressed femininity.

Attended a workshop on how to use AI and learned about elicit.com, a free website that does a great lit review. You type a question and generates a report with helpful tables. Fantastic resource for researchers as well as people who want actual science to inform their opinions!

Screenshot of the Facebook post where community members opted 76% to 16% to donate incentive money to charity rather than keep it themselves.
Not hard to be outright terrified at the state of science in America, but my heart was gladdened today by community members overwhelmingly opting for survey participation incentives to be donated to charity rather than to themselves, and by several people's enthusiasm about the upcoming study
Recruitment for this study is still going. Would appreciate a repost, folks! 🙏🏻
ugh, what ridiculousness. Sorry that happened :/
Science has been replacing religion as the prevailing explanation for how the world works since the enlightenment era. Genuinely curious what is replacing science now?
"Science is under threat. The Pew Research Center found the share of Americans who say science has had a mostly positive effect on society has fallen and there’s been a continued decline in public trust in scientists." From the recent APA letter to scientists
Excellent research here! "When people think that insecure girls is just someone who thinks, ‘oh, my hair isn’t good enough’, but it’s so much deeper than that and I think a lot of
the insecurities within girls that they just don’t feel
like… a person because of how they’ve been treated."
Good (short?) measures to assess wellbeing?
Want to feel better after using Instagram? Our new paper shows how. It's not about what you post, it's about how you respond to others' joy. In 4 studies (N=1327), focusing on sharing & caring about others' positive emotions improved mood & life satisfaction

The University of Michigan has always prioritized diversity when it comes to faculty hiring and research, and that is why it’s one of the best! An excellent op-ed by the one and only @liliacortina.bsky.social ! www.freep.com/story/opinio...
Thank you for that ❤️
Despite its name, I've been surprised to find that the Oxford comma is far less common here in the UK than it is in the US.
This is SO great! Definitely writing this into the syllabus I'm working on right now. Thank you for sharing! This kind of pedagogy/research improvement is exactly what I was interesting in getting from acaedmic social media :)
Agreed! I’d love to hear the specifics :)
Despite patriarchy's persistence, growing numbers of men believe they have it worse off than women. And, new research shows this "male victimhood" ideology is most common among men who aren't facing hardship. Which means what they're really feeling is status loss. 1/

That’s hilarious! I really love when authors boldly make narrow reference that lands
Uh oh! No love for wolf hall? I read that series this year and was completely amazed!!

Authors who write lovingly about their characters goes down so smooth. Especially when paired with in-depth analyses of why characters do the good & bad they do. Just finished Anne Tyler's The Accidental Tourist and this is a perfect example
