Call me old fashioned or something but leaders actually need to earn their votes.

I am extremely skeptical of any citizen saying that what we need to do is unite behind the nominee.

Maybe it will come down to that. But what we really obviously need is an actual leader that we want to unify around. And the goal should be to get one. Not surrender our leverage in advance.
