Planning is critical to a safe exit strategy. But there are ways to plan safely that mitigate the risk to you as well as to friends and comrades should the state weaponize it’s power against you.

That‘s a good point. Our focus is trans specific to fill that gap. I would love more information for disabled trans people. If you would like to do that research and pass it along we would be happy to disseminate to our network.

Identify less at-risk comrades to notify in case of weaponized police or immigration actions. Build your network but keep it safe. Use SIgnal via user name or QR code. Delete contacts in phone if at risk of arrest. Store extra clothes, meds, &c. with less at risk comrades.
Make a list of trusted comrades to call in an emergency. How will you get to your next destination? Alone? With help? Where will you meet? What do you need to travel safely? ID? Transit cards? Full gastank? Have a go-bag ready.
Discuss your plans openly with trusted comrades. How will you exit your housing fast? Where will you go? Safehouse, Hotel, Airport? Train station?

Stay off line. No digital tool is 100% safe. For sensitive communications consider “phone off“ talks in discrete public spaces like parks or waterfronts.
Safer email options include Protonmail (https://proton.me/mail), Tuta (https://tuta.com/secure-email), or Riseup (https://riseup.net/en/email/webmail). Email subject headings are not encrypted, be careful what information you put there. Use VPN/TOR whenever possible.
Limit or stop using social media and texting tools like Discord or WhatsApp. Telegram is safer but can still expose phone numbers. Signal is safest and when set up with a user name will not expose phone numbers.

Colombia is definitely not one of the safest countries, but it ranks well ahead of the US and with a very low cost of living this could be a great option for remote workers. As always with any colonial country any migration should be mindful of the indigenous populations.
