yup. I could try that as well. I'd like it to keep it visually distinct from dirt as it is washed-by-water, slippery ground and not just regular ground, but I admit there's room to find a suitable color between current purple and plain dirt browns and sets myself to explore that room.

The new one is clearly more appealing visually, but I'm a bit worried about action readability while playing: it is longer and the vanishing flame has the very color of the defeated foe. It could trick me into thinking that the thing isn't blasted yet. Could it turn lighter after a few frames ?

It doesn't need to be shifted that much to work (I presume)

could be nice to keep "centered balloon == main character speaking", though.
A slight shift left or right of the balloon could help identifying who's speaking in a longer dialog without having to spot the peak every time, mind.
