Me too! One thing I love about Vernon’s books is that her characters are thoughtful— even if they don’t make the best decisions.

An image of a list of the 27 grievances against King George III in the Declaration of Independence. Donald Trump's regime has committed at least 20 of them in whole or in part, condensed into the list below:
1.	He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
2.	He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of representation …
3.	He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing … his invasions on the rights of the people.
4.	He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; … obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners …
5.	He has obstructed the Administration of Justice …
6.	He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices …
7.	He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
8.	He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.
9.	He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
10.	He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution … giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
11.	For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
12.	For protecting them … from punishment for any Murders which they should commit …
13.	For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:
14.	For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
15.	For depriving us … of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
16.	For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:
17.	For … abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
18.	He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
19.	He has … destroyed the lives of our people.
20.	He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us …

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III and Britain.

Donald Trump and his regime have committed at least 20 of those same offenses highlighted in yellow.

Just a reminder that in January of this year, Trump and Hegseth decommissioned EVERY US mine sweeper. Yep. Every. Last. One.

Evidently they could never imagine a scenario in which the US needed minesweepers.

In Trump's America, we are governed by idiots.

When I was a kid in Sonoma County, we had a trip where we took a bus to Sausalito and bicycled over the Golden Gate to the Exploratorium. Then would take the ferry back.

Have you heard of Citizens Bank? No? Well Citizens Bank happens to finance ICE detention centers through CoreCivic & Geo Group.

Citizens Bank might need to learn the lesson that the public taught Target! Surely mass closing of bank accounts isn’t good for a bank

DOJ Removed Record of Multiple FBI Interviews with Underage Trump Accuser, Epstein Data Shows The FBI spoke at least four times with a woman who credibly accused Trump of sexually assaulting her when she was a minor, Epstein files show. That document is no longer accessible on the DOJ website.

Unlike a lot of people putting out hazily sourced allegations, @sollenbergerrc.bsky.social is a serious journalist and old colleague of mine. I trust he did the legwork to establish these connections.

And now DOJ disappeared the evidence.

Just a quick update from the Twin Cities. (Please forgive the unsolicited message). THINGS ARE NOT BETTER IN MINNEAPOLIS. The media is mostly moving on, Trump is focused on other stuff, BUT NOTHING HAS CHANGED ON THE GROUND. More than 2,000 DHS thugs continue to roam the streets, abducting people 24/7, assaulting legal observers with impunity, and routinely denying 1st, 4th, and 5th amendment rights. Drones and helicopters are overhead every day. Hundreds and hundreds of terrified families have not left their homes since mid-December ... relying on the community to bring them food and help with rent and other necessities. (Those people are NOT violent drug cartel sex offending murderers, as DHS would tell you. Most are legal residents or citizens.) If anything, things have just become more stressful and intractable (think trench warfare as a suitable metaphor): The resistance is better organized and numerous, but DHS has become more clever and better at disguise... and the county sheriff's office is increasingly supporting them . Do not let anyone tell you that Homans (the new person in charge of the occupation) is making anything better. Do not let anyone tell you that 700 ICE agents leaving the city has made much of a difference; the remaining force (again, ~2,000) is still larger than the entire city's police force (which is legally unable to do anything). Please call your congressional reps ... especially if there is any chance the administration might listen to them.

The greenback’s value has been shaved by more than 10 percent since President Trump returned to the White House.

The U.S. dollar is under pressure on multiple fronts, particularly Trump’s erratic policymaking involving tariffs and military action. https://wapo.st/4a5NWrv
