I very much argue with the framing that Indigenous leaders pose a "threat" to BC - which the writer here accepts as stated - when all they're asking for is that the government genuinely consider their rights as things not to be trampled over.

@avilewis.ca isn’t afraid of taking bold leftist swings.
In a world where the rich keep getting richer and the rest of us keep getting screwed, that’s pretty goddamn refreshing.
But the path ahead isn’t easy.
The NDP Leader joins me for the FINAL episode of Bubble Pop!
The NDP were upset about "purity tests" and the right literally do this stuff. I'm pretty over folks saying the left fights itself too much tbh.
Boosting the incredible resources on DRIPAfacts.ca! 📝 Share far and wide to combat coordinated misinformation campaigns. DRIPA is the path forward for human rights in BC. Send this to your family, co-workers and friends so we can collectively defend this critical legislation in the coming months.
Winnipeg teachers are cutting class on Thursday to strategize how to improve student attendance and remove barriers so more children show up for lessons on a regular basis.
People who say they like running are a psyop!
(congrats tho, good on you)
Every vote for suspending DRIPA is a vote against reconciliation. Let's see who's ready to tie their political careers to that stance.
This ain't it. This is how you convince people to vote Conservative.
Banning algorithmic pricing ought to be a no-brainer call for any government: people don’t like to be ripped off, surveilled, or treated differently from their peers.
Algorithm pricing does all three of those things.

Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez: “Here in Spain, we are approving and advancing a process to regularise half a million immigrants.
“And I want to say to the Right and the Far Right who oppose this: Spain is the daughter of migration and will not become the mother of xenophobia.”

DRIPA is not a threat to certainty; it is our only path toward it.
A suspension of Indigenous rights would torch nation relations, Horgan’s legacy, and block the real path forward - long overdue good-faith negotiations.

Teaching is harder than you think!
My latest:
Public funding for private schools growing faster than public schools
When analyzed on inflation-adjusted per-pupil terms, from 1999-2000 and 2025-26 B.C. spending on public schools increased by 32% compared to 50% for private schools

I mean, at least we're talking about socialism? I have a hard time caring what this Timbit says. It's obvious to everyone he's an empty suit, the problem is the just-as-empty suits of his competition.

Paterson talks about regular Victoria bylaw sweeps that displace unhoused people trying to exist outside of 7pm-7am.
“Use of enforcement to criminalize poverty & disability & to use it against people who have no place where they're tolerated or permitted. That's not only cruel, it's pointless.”
“We’ve told you that bylaw are acting with impunity”
“But you’re choosing to listen to the bigots …the ones who scream on social media that Victoria is dying bc of people who live without homes.”
“Victoria isn't dying bc of homelessness. Ppl who are homeless are dying, and you remain complicit.”
I have conflicting feelings about this, because higher education has a crucial role to play, but it seems more and more to function as a gatekeeping tool to keep white collar jobs for children of families that can afford higher ed. Gov'ts need to figure out what college/university is actually for.
