๐งต What's on our mind as indies when we attend events in person
Last week we showcased at two: Indie Dev Night at Epic Games innovation lab and a local dev meetup Love Indies.
I thought it might be nice to go full LinkedIn and do a thread...

if you're at GDC/Day of the Devs, please come say hi :)
I like big swords in games. Can someone make a game where I play a giant sentient sword that deals damage by swinging about it's wielders please?
I just love going fast in games, and with Echobreaker, the @upstreamarcade.com devs are giving some real flow state potential
Yeah of course, I just know how important it is to indie discoverability, who often don't have the budgets to pay for visibility elsewhere is all
I get that every game gets a chance in Next Fest, but does Marathon really need the additional publicity and discoverability? When you've indies with teams of 1-10-100 people and marketing budgets to match, it does feel a bit like seeing McDonalds rock up with a food stand at your local food market.
We just dropped our latest Weekend Games newsletter! If you like killer indies that you can actually finish, check it out and subscribe :) weekendgames.beehiiv.com/p/february-13
Reddit post from a developer AMA for Stars of Icarus which reads: "We're working with an indie PR and marketing team called Secret Sauce. It's been pretty great so far. It's definitely better than trying to do everything ourselves."
Getting a shout out from a client in a Reddit AMA wasn't on my bingo card for this week
So excited to be publishing another title this year, we fell in love with Remote Control as soon as we played the demo on Itch, and we're sure you'll love peeling back it's layers as much as us
That looks so pretty!
the new Weekend Games newsletter highlights some of the best short games from 2016 (and a poll for best indie of that year - it's definitely Stardew Valley) weekendgames.beehiiv.com/p/2026-is-th...
That's the kind of the point for us for now - 'forever' games provide great ongoing entertainment of course, but there is appetite for tighter experiences to really capture our imagination in a different way
Thanks Alex - Aethus is looking like it's come on a long way too!
Thanks Jas!
Screenshot of an excerpt from Edge Magazine: "This is what George Willard is banking on. Along with his co-founder at game marketing agency Secret Sauce, he's just launched an indie publishing label name Weekend Games, which is designed to spotlight the best games that you can reasonably expect to finish within two or three playing sessions. "Satisfaction is a rare feeling," he says, explaining why people may seek out bite-sized games. "Social interactions, online interactions and the news are rolling 24/7. Completion is something that is relatively rare these days." Secret Sauce recently released Little Corners, a simple..."
real childhood dream come true-kind of moment as I've somehow ended up in the latest edition of @edgemagazine.bsky.social talking about Weekend Games and Secret Sauce
