one of your two cats might find a stack of papers the perfect place for a "cinnamon bun" nap!
I asked Gemini what I should take to DMV for my driver's license renewal. It told me the documents I should take & said
The "Cinnamon Bun" Check: Since you're often busy with your statistics curriculum and short stories, double-check that your documents aren't tucked away in a "cat-approved" spot—
So my guess is many academics will not have the time to do accessibility audit on years of prior work but will comply to the standards moving forward. This means, many folks will have to remove the old content from their university websites. This is to say, download what you can while you can.
These are in a shape and format that meet journal requirements but not necessarily accessibility standards, some are done with tools without accessibility support at the time (for instance R Markdown in #rstats did not support alt text until 2022). 👇
Not a legal comment. April 24, 2026 is the compliance deadline for universities in the US to make websites accessible. Many #highered folks are in a rush. As you can imagine there are many folks who have provided their papers, course materials, presentations #openaccess on their websites for years.👇
Would you like to read all the articles from the 25 years of R special issue of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Statistics? They are all freely accessible for the next month or so at onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/toc/10.1... #rstats

Positron plus JupyterHub logo, with the Posit logo in the corner.
We are thrilled to announce that Positron Server is now available for academic use via JupyterHub!
This gives students a robust #RStats & #Python data science IDE without needing a local install or new infrastructure.

We shall wait and see.
I don't know where I'd be in 2028 but I just bought ticket to one of the Women's Volleyball Quarterfinal matches in the Olympics. I have no doubt that Turkey's "Sultans of the Net" will make it to the quarterfinals but the question is will it be the quarterfinal that I bought a ticket for 🤞
The other day a young person was watching loud videos on her phone while riding the silent car of the train. I asked her gently if she has headphones. She took them out of her bag and put them on. All this time I had thought that video watchers didn’t have headphones w them. I‘m flabbergasted!
We must have talked so much about Ohio that after I left campus, this happened

So nice indeed!
A group of three people in front of a sign that reads Union Station East. On the left is a very happy woman showing many of her teeth. In the middle is a man wearing a cap, his face is covered with an emoji. On the right is a man with glasses holding the phone for a selfie.
We got off at the same station and my husband was picking me up so we got our mini reunion.
In grad school in Ohio, we used to go to a Turkish store to buy delicious Pakistani basmati rice from a Senegalese man. Today I ran into him on a train in LA. We immediately hugged with shocked eyes. Unbelievable! After 7 years and more than 2000 miles!
How nice to know fellow R person who also loves movie theaters. If you haven’t been to movie theaters in LA, if you ever visit, let me know. I can give you a list of my favorites.
After seeing @mickael.canouil.fr’s project, I so regret not logging in my theater information over the years 😭

The annual observance marks how far into the new year women must work to make what men earned in the previous year. This year, it's March 26, a day later than it was in 2025. n.pr/4t9rLqU

This year is so bad that we have not even set up our Nowruz table. Wishing for a happy new year nonetheless.
In 2024, world production of pistachios was 1.1 million tonnes, with the United States, Iran, and Turkey combined accounting for 88% of the total.
