My hypothesis (that I've held since the internet was born) is that people tend to be far more relaxed online because they benefit from both anonymity and a general lack of hard consequences.

They'll speak their feelings more and that tends to devolve into a habit of not thinking things through.

I have discussed this a lot with young people who would much prefer education to a social media ban. I always think (being an old person) social media should be no different to any other social interaction - polite and setting boundaries.

Nothing inadvertent about it. I genuinely think it should be part of school curriculum.

Interacting with people around the world.
Internet security.
Simple manners (like not accusing everyone and their dog of being a troll when mere negligence can be blamed).
