Ummm, so are they suggesting that WOMEN are to blame for autism?
Sure seems like that’s the implication.

Re-read Neal Shusterman’s Scythe and besides remembering how kick ass awesome it is, it is also a timely read between the politics and the advancement of AI.
Of course, now I have to read the whole series again.

I planted dahlias for the first time this year and boy, they sure are pretty.
Nature heals!
The world is burning down, but at least I’ve got my band The Zip-Ups playing a gig this Friday night at Warp and Weft to look forward to.
For today’s bit of levity in dark times, Hobbes continues his love affair with my Birkenstocks.

Having not the best day ever, but just went to the hula hooping class at the library and I feel much better.
Still chuckling that my dad misread the Texas Roadhouse menu and thought they had Portuguese steak.
Harvard existed before the United States did. They know how to endure. They aren’t going to just topple.
Good.
Apparently, I have Trump Derangement Syndrome cos I pointed out historically presidents have hidden their medical problems ( i.e. Kennedy) & that Biden’s news is just one in a chain. Some day we will likely hear about some hidden Trump condition. But I’m deranged.
Where my other afflicted folks at?
First thing I thought when I heard it’s an American pope is that the current administration is somehow going to take some sort of credit for it and isn’t that just going to take the cake.

If it’s a warm, sunny day and you could layout to catch some rays anywhere, would you choose outside the library (and my office window)?
Applied at the end of last week to renew my passport and passport card online, and just got an email that it’s already been posted and is on its way. I did not pay to expedite anything, so I am shocked by the lightning fast turnaround. Kudos to the department!
Having one of those days where I have to stick to a policy, even though the person I’m going to tell it to will think it’s stupid. Alack and alas!
TBH, one of the things I will miss the most about Japan and South Korea are the clean and plentiful public restrooms with bidets. As in, bidets are standard. That’s where America is truly behind.
Everything is horrible, but I got to play music with my band The Zip-Ups on Friday night, and remembering that gets me through another day.
DOGE gutted IMLS today. Senator Markey is collecting stories of how this administration is hurting you. Libraries, it’s time to step up and tell your stories. #imls
Confirmed DOGE is currently inside IMLS headquarters.
Trump attacked Federal Funding for Libraries.
This affects us all.

The president signed an executive order to get rid of IMLS, the tiny agency that supports museums and libraries. We are the wealthiest nation on the planet If you think a service used by millions every year but costs a minuscule amount is a good budget cut, you are a horrible, delusional person.
My friend Dave sent me a surprise gift which is both perfect timing and a good joke.
“I got this!”
Harry Styles
It’s okay to put away some of the house sale into a Front Row at a Harry Styles Concert fund, right?
Asking for a friend.
I’ve set my searches to protests in the US and wow, there’s a lot. All over the country, for women, for the national parks, for Ukraine, for science.
It’s heartening.
A presenter said “ Get off the cross, we need the wood” and it might be my new favorite phrase.
Vermonters protesting Vance coming to ski resulted in some terrific signage. These are my favorites, but you probably can’t beat “Vance skis in jeans.” I cackled.
I love the little ways people fight back.
Saw the Music for Many Occasions Ensemble sing civil rights era songs at my library on Saturday and it brought me hope and inspiration. We shall overcome! Highly recommend a dose of their joy.
For those who need a reminder of where we started, No More Kings.
My happy for the day is that I wrote the president’s letter for my library association newsletter. It says:
Eff this
Circle the wagons
Librarians are superheroes
Libraries are awesome
I love you all
If libraries go down, we’ll go down swinging.
