Ethan Roberts just walked into the Cubs clubhouse, although no roster move has been announced.
Nico Hoerner wanted to finish his career donning the only uniform he’s worn in the majors.
His six-year extension practically ensures that will happen:
Make it a two home run day for Alex Bregman.
Solo shot makes it 6-3 in the eighth.
Make that back-to-back home runs as Ian Happ hits one to left field.
After not collecting a hit through first three innings, the Cubs pick up their first two and make it a one-run game.
Alex Bregman has his first home run as a Cub, a solo shot to center field.
3-1 Nationals.

Hi Everyone!
I have been pretty inactive here, but I noticed many of you have continued to follow, and I thank you for that.
I was laid off from Marquee earlier this winter, but I'm excited to be working on a new project: The Windy City Breakdown Podcast with a pair of former coworkers.
The Cubs are signing LHP Génesis Cabrera to a major-league contract, per sources.
Cabrera, 28, had a 3.52 ERA in 7.2 innings with the Mets before being DFA’d on May 24.
#Cubs roster moves:
- Gage Workman DFA’d
- Nicky Lopez signed to a one-year major league deal

Friday he showed why he's been arguably one of the best signings:
Quick ICYMI: At the start of the fifth, the Cubs led by 2.
At the start of the 9th, they lead by 2.
Not much has happened in between.
I wasn't alive for the 23-22 game in 1979 – but this game at Wrigley today is just as wild.
(I'm sure @bastianmlb.bsky.social can fill me in on that game).
Colin Rea's final line: 4.2 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 5K on 69 pitches.
Another nice outing from the veteran against a solid lineup
Cubs optioned Luke Little and recalled Jordan Wicks from Triple-A
#Cubs made a series of roster moves on Tuesday, including optioning Matt Shaw to Iowa:
