But anyway, DOOM! (sorry this is going on way too long...) Doing Doom without any groundwork is just. No. Especially since they showed they know how to do that with a much less interesting villain. And then they go and take the Most Iconic Supervillain to Ever Walk the Page and just. Do that? ...no.

The long and short of this is: I used to really enjoy this nonsense. Until it ran out of steam and good ideas. But also, it's been eighteen years since Iron Man. EIGHTEEN YEARS. And I already wasn't exactly young when that came out. And there's just more interesting glossy blockbuster stuff out.

Avengers (1) is tied with some other roller coaster theme park ride movies for second spot of movies I've seen in theaters the most behind Avatar. I haven't bothered trying to see any MCU stuff after I want to say Guardians 3. Which I liked, but nothing else seemed worth even streaming.

And like, not even trying to be George Lucas in a good way, but aping his worst fucking impulses that have been ridiculed for decades at this point. I own all MCU movies up to Far from Home on physical. And I really didn't like Far from Home, and then it just really died for me.

The MCU didn't survive Covid, and then it didn't survive Disney wanting to make watching all the Disney+ series mandatory for Really Gettin It. You just really shouldn't make your audience do homework to really get your movies. And that Endgame stunt is just stupid. Stop trying to be George Lucas.

The later 360/PS3 era had a good amount of bangers - but the mid-tier was HELLA fucking mid.
