Gisèle Pélicot coming out of court in Avignon to cheers, women shouting "Bravo! "" Merci, Gisèle!" A remarkable woman. What she experienced is beyond imagining, her courage immense. I hope this will change things.

With its mix of politics and frivolity, this is an ideal episode to use as a gateway drug to get friends and family hooked on Quiet Riot. If you each get one extra person to listen, you can double our reach.

Go on. Be our dealer. Do it now. First hit is free.

Farage knows this, of course, but relies on riling up supporters who don’t.

It’s because you have to have 6 MPs to get to lay a wreath. Reform has 5.

Been offline for a while - and now some time has passed since listening! But I really liked it.

Now I'm rather dreading listening, because I want to find it as positive as he did, but I'm afraid - from the comments - that I won't. But here I go ... girding my loins ...

I haven't managed to listen to the speech yet, but I keep seeing negative comments on it - except from my partner, a musician, who said he started to weep at the references to music. He did say he thought he was in a particularly emotional state for various reasons, but still ... /

It’s so critical that this Labour govt makes people’s lives measurably better. The last 14 years of Toryism have been pretty horrific and we need to see real change urgently. But surely we can hold them to account without helping the right to tear them down. Because then what?

Maybe go back to what I originally said, which was about unpleasant attitudes, instead of developing it into something daft.

That doesn't change my comment.

Racism, misogyny, lies: how did X become so full of hatred? And is it ethical to keep using it? Ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter, I and many others have been looking for alternatives. Who wants to share a platform with the likes of Andrew Tate and Tommy Robinson?

Now if the Telegraph could join the dots with its own hostile rhetoric. This isn't hypothetical, it has been studied for years, anti-immigration policies and politics undermine countries, whereas positive policies and politics can actually help boost economies.

Angela Rayner on Grenfell: “Greed and deregulation were put before safety”

Deregulation is not some buccaneering good as Tories would have you believe.
Deregulation means removing our protections so that the rich and the powerful can take risks and exploit us.
Let’s not help them do that.

A brief 🧵 about Brexit denialism suffocating Britain (originally posted on X)

1/19 As a psychologist, I am all too aware that, when faced with emotionally challenging issues and threats, facing them can be very scary and the temptation is to avoid. Can entire nations act similarly? Yes.

There seems also to have been some switching of votes because of certainty labour would win. I know people who voted green for that reason - knew labour would win, knew green couldn’t, but wanted to show support for green.
