Chiefs from four First Nations communities are urging the public to please approach Aaron Gunn with no caution whatsoever. He is completely harmless, though momentarily unsettled by the alarming possibility that someone might acknowledge the land before a meeting.
Yesterday on social media, the MP appeared to crash out and demand to speak to the manager of land acknowledgements, a position that observers confirm does not exist.
Chiefs whose territories make up the riding had two words for the MP - Chillax, Bud.
Land acknowledgements have never seized private property, cancelled a mortgage, repossessed a pickup truck, or altered a single title deed anywhere in Canada.
They are simply people recognizing the history of the place where they are standing.
No one is going anywhere. Canada will survive the brief moment of honesty.
Until then, Chiefs across the region continue to reassure the public that land acknowledgements have not, to date, resulted in any land back.

"They are telling stories about themselves."
There is an old study that showed if you ask someone what their neighbor throws away, you get a much more accurate list of what the person being asked throws away.
Otherwise, people do tell stories about themselves.

Next you are going to tell me the Boeing factory I toured was just a massive government front hiding the real truth.
All kidding aside, 10 years ago it was a REALLY cool tour. The campus is MASSIVE.

I asked Google AI the following question
"How would an executive yell at a manager for wasting millions of dollars on an AI feature nobody wanted."
OMG, the response.

"... removes a number of requirements... including that the proposal must be constitutional, factually accurate or have clear subject matter statements."
Basically opening the door for the separatism petition which isn't constitutional.

30 seconds into the video "A Clockwork Orange" came to mind as an example of this type of work. Banned soon after release and now considered a classic.
That movie made such an impact on me, I have the Cracked image of Woody from Toy Story as Alex in the famous theatre scene as my desktop image.

Yes, Steam banning indie game "HORSES" matters.
YouTube video by Charalanahzard
Here's my video about @santaragione.com's HORSES, and why it being banned from Steam sucks even if you aren't interested in *this particular game*. Video games as a whole deserve better!

This is a serious amount of "I'm not a target" privilege:
"But is it really fascism? This is a nuanced subject. The word is so over used."

This blows me away so much. While growing up in the Southern US, I dreamed of seeing the aurora. It wasn't until I moved to Canada I saw them.
In the last few years is seems like southern states are seeing them more often. Child me would have loved that.

It is like a bad junior high baseball game where the person who made the "winning run" is celebrated and the batter who got the 3rd out in the nineth inning is demonized.
Don't even get me started on the whole "scientific discovery implies moral character" BS.

You thought seagull management was bad, have you been subjected to seagull code reviewers?

1 or 2 cents goes to 0 cents. 3 or 4 cents goes to 5 cents. Similar for 6,7 and 8,9. And this only applies to cash transactions.
Honestly, this seems fair. And given how little I use cash, it doesn't affect me.

The polish phase...
Sanding is to woodworking as polishing is to game dev.

If a "publicly releasable server" is required and it diverges significantly from the server used internally, I fear that the quality of that server will be lacking. The video covers this under the notion of having to rethink the dev process. But it is an example of how things aren't trivial.

IP and licensing of that IP seems like it might complicate things. There have been instances of IP being pulled from a published game after the license expires. This seems like it might be possible to use this as a tool to thwart efforts by this initiative.
I'm not an IP lawyer...

When it comes to 3rd party licensed software, the terms for client binaries and server binaries are significantly different. For server binaries, game devs have a LOT more freedom to license software that can NOT be distributed freely. This isn't a trivial problem to solve.

As a low profile 20+ year dev, I feel this is an excellent summary of developer's perspective on "Stop Killing Games".
TLDR: "This initiative is an important conversation that needs to be had. But it complicated..."

Just checked Alberta's levels and thankfully they haven't spiked (yet). I guess we are too busy with measles. COVID is so 2020. (heavy, frustrated sarcasm)

Being someone who was into TAM and "New Atheism", my biggest takeaway was "Just because you share a certain viewpoint with someone does not mean you share any other viewpoints or ideology"
The "do your own research" mantra helped get us into this mess.

Yeah, I would consider that working smarter.

I once told my boss-boss-boss... (one of the co-CEOs) that my goal was to have everything running so smoothly that I can just sit out on the deck and watch the world pass by.
Being lazy requires no effort. Working smarter requires up front effort to get you to a place where can be "lazy".

Googled an opinion I had to get thoughts from others on the subject.
The Google AI summary agreed with my position.
I'm not sure how I feel about that.
(1) Yea me???
(2) God, I hope people don't take Google AI summaries as an authoritative opinion.
