Christopher Jencks, a Shaper of Views on Economic Inequality, Dies at 88 His clear prose, illuminating data and novel arguments helped transform debates around issues like public education and welfare reform.

Truly one of the greats. He gave us the words and the permission to study inequality in a way that has shifted so many careers and in turn impacted so many lives.

Here a recent paper on citizenship acquisition. Written with Alicia Poole. Social Networks matter for immigrants decisions to naturalize (or not). But how? We show that migrants make explicit comparisons to others in their social circle that naturalize.

1/ Business lobbyist Virginia Lamp once said anti-immigration attitudes are “based on a type of selfish nationalism.”

Today she's better known as Ginni Thomas: wife of Clarence Thomas, and an "America-first" election denier.

What’s changed — for her and the U.S.?
