I have not heard him ever say that, so cite your source - however, rapid in-store price changes based on real-time conditions are, in fact, a thing, and have been reported going back years now - preemptive measures are needed www.npr.org/2024/06/17/n...

"conspiracy theory" lol youtu.be/t_B2nkZc-9E?...
former builder had major financial troubles, which created major construction hiccups, the project has been taken over by a REIT, and it seems they're having some trouble with the cladding (and it's way over budget)
welcome to toronto
welcome to toronto!
militarily imperative ballroom
"Parliament" could have worked here, too, considering the site. I am curious what they have in mind for south entrances, Parliament/Front, bc thus far, they've just shown off King/Berkeley
Me too! (maybe bias because a resident) but also, Corktown is one of Toronto's oldest named neighbourhoods. I do get that Distillery is a well-known destination, but if they're doing that name it should come with immediate conversations about the station being far more than a glass box to reflect it
maybe the presence of the station itself will expand the immediate area of Chinatown (over time), encourage an extension south a bit (there are an awful lot of empty store fronts on queen west)
if it was a national unity government why not just form a coalition government like other parliamentary systems do - as you mentioned, we have little experience with - instead of forcing MPs, and by extension Canadians, to swear fealty to the Liberals
just toronto currently isn’t doing this, and are instead largely just monitoring and adjust fixed-timed cycles does not they cannot do things that other countries, like many in the EU and Asia, already do (adjust cycles based on all users)
this is called a FLIR ITS TrafiCam - outside of the reality Toronto already has these - they absolutely can track pedestrians presence at and through intersections - along with all other road uses (cyclists, transit, auto). That data can be used to dynamically adjust our ATC/ SCOOT signal systems
Yes, dynamic intersections that are vehicle-actuated is what I want, yes that requires a change in the way we both collect and implement notification/ data - including speeding up or delaying FDW by using more sensors including ones for pedestrians, but in essence - transit always goes first
I do understand and that’s (essentially) what I said and that’s how Torontos TSP works, yeah
(at least if I’m up to date on what they’re doing)
yeah we’ll see how it’s implemented in practice but it’s still something like if/ streetcar and/ green = elongate green, if/ turn phase and streetcar = delay turn phase. Which is still just inside a car timed cycle - vs if/ streetcar reorder [entire] cycle
(at least not yet)
problem is Toronto doesn’t have genuine TSP and only if/and elongated greens
I think about the change they made to the side of intersections where a streetcar stops - because streetcars still have to wait for lights, streetcars now sometimes stop twice instead of sometimes once. It's frustrating sitting at a long red light not being able to get off where you previously did
could be improperly sealed then and when you’re doing it submerged the water is acting as a seal via pressure ? hard to say but that’d be my guess
liquid from the food releases then turns to steam
In fact, in my opinion, it will only serve to push kids to weirder, more niche and less moderated corners of the internet that'd don't adhere to regional policies like this
this policy won't protect kids from "the internet" though - at best, just popular platforms, and the only way for it to be enforced will be non-kids, teens above 16 and adults uploading their identity documents to the major platforms to "prove" their age for access
this policy only means Canadians will be forced to upload identity documents to popular platforms to prove their age, it doesn't mean kids will be protected from the internet at large because thats impossible. This is dumb
maybe an unpopular take but I think they need to deal with other issues (priority signalling, intersections and switching) before dealing with stop spacing because stop spacing is a functional change and with the other issues present just makes it moderately less functional but still slow

a fair question!
