One of the most significant but largely immeasurable consequences of the last decade of fascism in America is that it is a form of civil, moral, and spiritual rot that debases all of us. We are all made that much cruder, insecure, and therefore crueler despite our best aspirations and efforts.

Yeah, now that @kdnewman.bsky.social work in the same state that part is easier.
Importing 422 lines of options trades was slightly less fun.
Already hit that trading level in ‘26, so I’m paying a CPA for next year.

Waited 48 hours for TaxSlayer to import my 1099-B from my broker, and eventually just used my ETL software to extract the info I needed and get it into their CSV format.
It is one of the only ones that handles spouses working in different states well, so it has that going for it.

Chesterton has the yoking of Athens and Jerusalem in quite a bit of his fiction. For example The Napoleon of Notting Hill has them as the architypes of reason and faith, but also as examples of self sacrifice (drinking hemlock and taking up your cross). Not sure if he ever adds Rome to the list.

Ending with saying that Trump should apologize puts Barron in a no win scenario. Trump never apologizes, and now there is a wedge to drive between Trump and Barron. Every time Barron speaks, he should be asked if Trump has apologized to the Pope yet.

I like to think of God as sculpting creation (Space and Time) and making everything as good as our free will allows it.

He needed the English to lose their continental holdings so that when the Tudors broke from Rome, France was there as a refuge.

Lettuce was there, just not mentioned. Tomatoes were outside of the free delivery range by a 10,000 miles, so were not on offer.

The exempt countries still get a 15% tariff according to the fact sheet.
So you could also read it that 60% of imported drugs will be 15% more expensive in 120 days.

I think Trump just raised the price of GLP-1s by 15% in 120 days. Masterful move in a midterm year, sir.

I would say the events of the last 2 years have turned my “hopeful universalism” to “hopeless universalism.”
I still believe that God can save all (He said “I make all things new” after all), but I’m not sure I want Him to.

Hey, if you're feeling like life has passed you by and you're too old to start something new, remember that John Brown was 55 before he killed his first pro-slavery settler in the Kansas Territory. It's never too late to follow your dreams.
