In plain English: Republicans in Congress plot more severe budget cuts to health care, nursing homes, and school lunches to pay for tax breaks for billionaires like Elon Musk.

It sounds absurd, but it’s true.

Elon Musk’s Team Now Has Full Access to Treasury’s Payments System Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent gave Mr. Musk’s representatives at the so-called Department of Government Efficiency a powerful tool to monitor and potentially limit government spending.

It’s alarming that Elon Musk has access to government payment systems used to deliver Social Security and Medicare benefits. 
 
He also drove out the senior career official at Treasury responsible for preventing a potential default on U.S. debt.

The most surreal and maddening feature of the campaign was that everyone agreed that high prices were the main issue but the guy explicitly, consistently running on a platform of raising everyone’s prices won voters most concerned about high prices.

We hammered this time and time again and yet.

Trump’s tariffs are a tax increase for Minnesota families, plain and simple.

While Trump raises prices, I’m proposing the first sales tax rate cut in our state’s history to help Minnesotans weather the storm.

Trump signs order imposing tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China American importers will pay a new 25-percent tax on goods from Canada and Mexico and a 10-percent levy on products from China.

Tariffs are an important strategic economic tool, but Trump’s desire for a trade war with Canada and Mexico won’t protect jobs, keep Americans safe, or bring down costs for families.
