I say do it. Shoot for the moon. You never know, some influencer might actually be intrigued enough to buy it for social media clout alone. Can see it now: "I bought this obscure indie self-published book for $100K; did I do a bad?!" and make back their money in views.

I literally thought it was an April Fool's Day thing when I saw they launched yesterday. Could not care less to be honest. Space exploration is cool and all, but the world is on fire and I don't have the luxury to have second hand pride for these things anymore.

Do yourself a favour and stay away from the NL subreddit posts on this story. Lots of shitty takes on the legitimacy of this study from a lot of racists.

NL friends: does anyone remember the twitter account that outed local transphobes? Or am I misremembering that service to the community?😅

Treated myself to vol. 1 of the @fantagraphics.bsky.social Carl Barks archives today as we're birthday twins and he would have been 125 today (if only he had the lifespan of Uncle Scrooge!)

Coincidentally, at my age he received his first credit for a Donald Duck short: "Modern inventions"

I'm sure a folklore student can chime in here if you don't know the answer; but do we know who Sheila is? Like, is she a figure tied specifically to this place? My dumb CBN brain wants to add "Nageira" after every Sheila I see, but that can't be it.

Jess and I are going to try and get to see it Saturday; she loved the book. I know nothing.

that is gross. Did you see the response to the gutting of the math department? A slap in the face to any contractual lecturers.

huh, I always thought he was a Coconut Crab in Beast Wars. Guess I didn't know the Basics.

I mean, “Saint” Patrick was a fookin’ Christian colonizer who wasn’t even bloody IRISH, Worf!!

But sure, I’ll take a whiskey if you’re buying.

...kept me from being homeless. So I listen and shed a tear in his memory and God willing I'll have a drink in his memory this St. Patty's Day.

And maybe I'll finally get around to learning Gaelic this year. sláinte.

...for me. The veil feels more sheer, and I feel as close as I have at any year to those I've lost hearing those melancholic Irish melodies. And I cherish those I still have with me. Tomorrow is the birthday of someone who in life gave me and my family so much, and whose estate quite literally...

...who'd have a drink, have a laugh, ask me to do a funny little jig and belt out those Irish Rebel songs as if we were our ancestors still fighting the British; not truly comprehending as we're all several generations removed from our immigrant forebears. Yet, this may as well be All Hallows Eve...

...siren songs of the past good ole days, and ignore the joyous revelry with that undercurrent of mourning as any rebellious teen would. "That's old people music" I'd decry, but now here I am; an old man by my teenaged self's standards. And I now yearn for the good old days, to see the family...

I know St. Patty's Day is a right raucous party for many here, but I always become sullen and reflective this time every year. There's just a comforting sadness to many Irish folk songs that remind me of my upbringing and of the family I've naturally lost over the years. I'd resist those lilting...

I see stuff like this sometimes on the local fb marketplace, and we are nowhere near the American south. I can only assume US servicemen introduced them around WWII and those pieces are still sadly circulating. At least I hope new pieces aren't being imported here; selling old ones is bad enough.

Yeah if Social Media requires my ID that's a good excuse for me to finally permanently disconnect and never look back.

I'm going to be real here: I don't mind the clock changes. Kind of seems like it hits the best of both worlds with what I'd consider a minor inconvenience, especially with most "clocks" these days self-adjusting. That said, if I had to choose give me Standard. Darker mornings sound bad in Winter.

We haven't had to buy a muzzle (yet; Dinah has picked up a bad habit of eating street treats and that may be the fix) but we usually get our stuff locally. Pet Valu (preferred) or Pet Zone (local chain, but the owner was an ass to Dinah once).

In Canada, we recently felt the loss of so many children, killed by someone little more than a child themselves, and we mourned. I think most of us are still in mourning.

How could we possibly support something like this? How can we not grieve this loss? How can we ignore the pain?

So sad to share that legendary colorist Tatjana Wood has passed away at the age of 99. Her pioneering painterly touch graced scores of DC & Vertigo series. She was truly one of a kind and a special friend. May her memory be a blessing.

Reminder folks, with all the snow. Take it easy, don't give yourself a heart attack.

Shoveling snow is legit a heart risk, i can not tell you how many neighbours have gone to hospital because they had a heart attack while shoveling.
