Even knowing that’s how it works I often look at a ChatGPT response and can’t help but think “this mf is alive”

Actually I heard in a video (so I’m not sure it’s true) what we are talking about are actually the two camps of “achieving AGI”

Half of the researches think we should merge neural networks with traditional program logic and the other half thinks we need to fully artificially simulate neurons

An LLM on the other just knows the words “divide by zero” and “impossible” often go together

You might think you’re not any better because you don’t understand the complex mathematics behind “it’s impossible”, but your brain understands way more of what “impossible” means than ChatGPT does

I think you’re selling yourself short or giving an LLL too much credit

If you really think about it you understand that the concept of dividing by zero itself (in the realm of real numbers) makes no sense because your brain understand the concept of dividing

LLMs are a technological dead end as far as AGI is concerned

They’re super useful tools when it comes to analyzing or working with language but anything else is just asking for trouble (OpenClaw) or grifting (we got AGI guys I swear we just need more datacenters)

My understanding is that “thinking models” are also not actually thinking but they just break down the problem into python code they run and interpret the result of

Yeah this is a very easy question too, dividing by zero is something most people know it’s impossible so there’s a lot of association between those two concepts

What it ultimately boils down to is LLMs can’t actually think, they can just give the illusion to

But once they commit to telling you that the answer is not “none” they’re fucked because their output is based on continuing the previous input
That’s why creating a new chat and erasing context often helps when you’re getting bogus responses

The problem is LLMs are non deterministic, you can get a wildly different result based on just whatever answer they landed in the first interaction
They will then double down on that first answer and just claim they got the answer slightly wrong the first time
