Opening text of a thread by Palantir from X Because we get asked a lot. The Technological Republic, in brief. 1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation. 2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible. 3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public. 4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.
Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

It’s genuinely staggering how little substance there is to today’s instalment of the BBC’s attempt to create a national crisis out of a few unproven allegations of immigration fraud 1/
As part of my efforts to combat the COVID Amnesia Project, let's accurately remember what 3 influential laptop class doctors from Stanford said 6 years ago as COVID overflowed hospitals and morgues.
They won't remind you.
I will.
My latest.
Much of oil and gas pollution is invisible without an optical gas imaging camera. This is how the industry gets away with claiming its methane emissions aren't a problem.
They are.

To reduce disease, we all need to make some urgent but simple changes to how we feed our garden birds.

🧵 Democracy feels like it's in a rough state at the moment across the globe, and we hear various explanations, like polarisation, extremism, disinformation, and loss of trust. But what if those explanations are mainly symptoms and we've been trying to treat them rather than the underlying causes?
It has come to my attention that not all of you are aware that this exists. So, here it is. It exists. Dozens of channels of randomized music videos and bumpers. Choose your era and return to your childhood. Bookmark it for when you need to escape back.

What @ministraitor.bsky.social said about the pastel de nata. The Time Out market is great when you want to try different things and are only there for a short’ish period. There are also rooftop bars on the castle side that are great for sunset drink (might still be too chilly).
OMG, my brain is having second by second BlueSky posted meltdown ! That's the film you originally said, but I confused it with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes when I looked it up....
Is that the one with a young George Clooney in it ?

For several months, people have been wondering why Reform hasn't declared any crypto donations, despite Nigel Farage saying they'd received some
Now @theobserveruk.bsky.social can reveal why...
Putting together an analysis of all the anti trans laws over the last few years and there's never been anything like this in US history. The total number of state laws passed in 5 years (300+) approaches the total number of Jim Crow laws (400+) passed over a 100 years.
